If you are about to buy a car, wait until March 1st and save yourself sales tax and the annual Ad Valorem Tax. Here is an explanation of the net tax from the Butts County website.
I couldn't find a similar explanation of the tax for Camden County.

Thanks for posting. I guess since you can opt to the new system it doesnt matter if you wait to purchase or not?.

Good point, unless you pay your first Ad Valorem tax when you get your tag.
One other thing: the last time I purchased a vehicle out of state, the dealer collected a partial sales tax, 3%, I believe. Then I had to pay the remainder when I got my GA title and tag. If you pay a partial sales tax out of state, you will not get credited for it when you pony up for the title tax.
