CHEF MORENO? You mean Jay Moreno whose only restaurant experience was assistant manager overseeing the hamburger flippers at Burger King?
He is a culinary expert "par excellence" for charbroiled burgers. He could run a mean cash register, too. And when it comes to packing fries, there is no one better.
But sadly, a 17 year old employee ended all that. She got fed up with his abuse and met him in the parking lot and put a first class ass whoopin' on him. I'm talking about a trip to the emergency room type of ass whoopin'.
I would pay a thousand bucks for a video of that beating.
Saved.

Thank you.

I'm new here. What is the whole story about the girl who beat up on Jay?

No one better than the huge Jayster to fill you in on all the details. I would tell you but I don't want to get on Jay's "Actionable Culprits" list.(I know that's not right, but I don't feel like looking up his big, scary word right now.)

Big Man Boo is going to sue you!!!!!!!!!!

The word is "calumnies", Boo. Yep, ol' Jay feels as if people done been bad-mouthing him. How dare they? And there he is just as nice as pie. Okay, so you have to ignore his "ESAD" mantra. Oh, and the lies. Right, and the attacks on people. Yeah, yeah and the bloated ego, obscenities, delusions of intelligence etc. But other than that, he's not a bad guy.

Today is owner/chef Victoria's birthday at Bistro & Brew.

From her Facebook page:

So Here is my Birthday Special Dinner:

.Rôti de bœuf braisé......with Roasted Potato & Veggies $13.99

Soup of the Day: Home Made Chicken Veggie Rice

Chicken Piolli Parm. with 1 side $14.99

Hope to see you soon Dinner starts at 5:30pm

Now, near as I can figure, Rôti de bœuf braise is the French version of beef pot roast. All the recipes I Googled were in French. Not sure, but I would not be surprised if wine is involved.

I'm pretty sure that is the dish pictured on the right hand side of the top of today's Facebook page.

Hope you get what you order. Looks like there is not ever anyone in their parking lot while Aunt B's booms.

Have you tried that new Aunt B's down Hwy 40 going towards Folkston? Heard some ex-partner of some Aunt B person has that place in that nasty shopping center but the food supposedly is terrific.

Jay wants to be a food critic but he doesn't even know what the food he critiques is. Why don't you stick to Aunt B's. At least you recognize fried pork chops and collard greens. Better yet, get another hobby.

Try " food.com ", Chuckles. Type the words in the search box.

Old rule: never eat anything you can't pronounce, and especially if you don't know the ingredients. That's where "Don't eat yellow snow." came from. Means the same in either French or English.

Of course, French Pot Roast with processed American beef is...at best...a cheap imitation of the original, but what's important is that it impressed you.

Please tell me you don't fall for the "Kobe Beef" trick at fancy Japanese restaurants.

Bon Appetit'.

Rôti de bœuf braisé......with Roasted Potato & Veggies $13.99

I had that for supper tonight. Best I've ever had -and I've eaten a hell-of-a-lot of very good pot roast in the last 65 years . This was in a class by itself.

The two slabs of beef were easily 5/8 of an inch thick with a combined weight of easily over 16 ounces. Just short of fork tender. Tennis ball sized white potatoes, quartered, skin on. At least 8 quarters. Grilled carrots. Roasted celery. Beef topped with sautéed, small, white onion rings.

An absolutely delicious and exceptionally satisfying meal - and a helluva bargain.

Folks, when you go for the first time, don't forget to check out the daily specials on the black board. I know, I usually ignore proffered "specials" too but that would be a big mistake at Bistro & Brew. Their specials actually are - and very.

That's Janie Highsmith's place. I understand she is calling it "The Lunchbox." She is indeed one of the two original Aunt B's partners. I would be shocked if the food were not terrific.

OBTW, for any of you displaced Yanks who want a taste of home, go to Bistro & Brew when the night waitress named Linda is on duty.

You will think you are in a bistro in NYC. Linda is 50ish, sounds like Fran Drescher light, and is quite a bon vivant. She gives excellent service along with the Long Island repartee.

Think Flo from the old "Alice" show but with a New York accent and a much better attitude.

So, I should think "Flo", although she sounds nothing like her, and doesn't act like her either. Thanks for that spot on literary description.

I will agree that the service can be slow but the food is not like any other you can find in Camden County.....delicious lunch and dinners....and desserts! If you tried it when they first opened, give them another chance. I did and I am glad I did.

RE: Slow service. I've never had that experience in 4 visits.
'
However, the front manager, Victorias husband, told me they once hired a young lady who told them she was an experienced waitress. Turned out she had never waitressed. She left in tears before the end of her first shift, completely overwhelmed.

The wait staff that has waited on me - three different waitresses - have all been prompt, courteous, and generally quite good.

Remember, you are not going to a fast food joint when you go to Bistro & Brew. All meals are cooked to order by an actual chef. If you can not wait 12 to 15 minutes for the best food in Camden to be prepared-to-order, that's unfortunate - for you.
