You are so incredibly ignorant. Sailboats are motoring 90 percent of the time. They have either gasoline or diesel inboard motors. Some of these yachts carry 500 gallons of fuel.
On top of that the outboard motors on tenders use gasoline.
Now who's the dumbass?
Give me a break. There isn't a sailboat within 200 miles of here that carries 500 gallons of fuel. Very few sailboats carry 100 gallons. The average 22' outboard has a 100 gallon or greater tank.

As for the dinghy's, a gallon will run them for two weeks from the boat at anchor to the dock. If the sail boaters weren't so damn cheap, they would rent a slip at a marina and contribute a little to the local economy. But they would rather stay on the hook.

They want everything to be free. Many of them are pure tee freeloaders.

I can't handle the ignorance here any longer, and I'm so glad the average Saint Marys resident has common sense.

You people need to get a life and mind your own damned business.

How is it not their business? The people of St Mary's pay taxes that are used to pay for that dock. It is a public dock. Not a free berth with free water and garbage service for a freeloader that is running a "For PROFIT business" from it. I do not think that the monthly tour of their boat is adequate compensation for their use of the dock.
Since they have decided to establish roots in St Mary's, do they pay Georgia income tax on their retirement income? Do they pay property tax in Ga?

The problem is, St Marys has a City Council made up of real estate cartel types and tourist types. Their focus and objective is to shake down property tax paying homeowners for higher property tax and higher water and sewer bills. They represent speculating developers and tourist trap owners.

They also see them selves as fun loving yachtee wantabees. That is why they would prefer to take care of freeloading yachters over tax paying homeowners. How else would you explain why the City Council purchased the yacht club with property tax revenue just so freeloading yachters would have a place to play?

this is my damned business i had to pay city taxes for the last 28 years here in st.marys and my parents payed taxes in st. marys since 1968.
How much money do you think this freeloader has had to pay for the services i have to.if its free because of a boat Iown 2.you have already said they dont sail.but 10% of the time. their boat must be a powerboat like mine.
Why cant I get all my services for free.
Plus if the STEAL AWAY has to have a USCG lic.capain on board.

ALL i, saying is a tax payer citizen was ran off the dock because it is a unsafr structure. the very same structure that the STEAL away is tied up today
you tell me how that is fair?
now the city is talking about charging and what the boat owners they would leave unless everything to them is free
You need to get your head out of your ass. You hide behind your handle and spew crap that you know nothing about. Come out of the closet and aire your concerns at a council meeting so the rest of us can know exactly who your sorry ass is.

I am guessing your real name is Get Real. I watched the meeting online she/he spoke of and everything was said. The couple want the city to keep a slip open just for their boat to load and unload paying customers.
Why cant they rent a slip from Langs. The city redoing the dock adding a second floating dock cost some money. Why not let the offshore diving boat tie up there then h will not hae to pay us for a slip.
Then give me a slip to put my boat that runs people over when I have to,that will free up a space for us to rent.
ON THE TAKE'S head may be up their ass yet they are thinking and seeing what is more fair to everyone in the city.

Yes I agree with him make them pay

to bring something else up if they are tied up to a dock and fall getting on or off that boat. who do you think they are going to carry to court?
the STEEL AWAY or the city
how much insurance do they carry?
is the city also covered on that insurance?

If you have not paid or paying for a dock then why would you think some one else should do so for you?

All businesses operating in the city should pay their share, the Stealaway should pay it's share as well.

Common sense is what the free loaders and city needs. We have people in plain veiw breaking the law. living on their boats that is against the law stealing water from the city. The DNR turning their head.
I think someone needs to drop a call to Mark Williams with DNR about his rangers not doing their jobs.

The city is taken money from the LANGS and the taxpayers.

Where can I sign up to go on one of these charters.See if I can fall and get hurt on city dock then I can own the whole dock. because im going after the city not the people with a 100.00 truck and a boat that may be worth 50grang of scrap metal.
THATS COMMON SENSE

I agree. And don't forget the moled green, brown and grey turds floating in and out with the tide. I'm sick of going to the river and seeing ugly gobblets of human waste washing up on shore. My family no longer can eat the shrimp, fish and crabs from the river.

There are laws against this. Where is the law enforcement we pay for with our property tax?

the main man to call now is Mark Willams he is over DNR now we need to ask why aren't local law working with our local DNR.T he city knows its against ga. law because the city had to o get permits from fl. beause ga said no.
DNR may wan some grant money back becauseof the city beaking DNR laws
