Given that I can only carry so much in the paper carrier's bag I wear around my neck when shopping, I almost never go anywhere west of Walmart without stopping in on the way home.

In this past week, I've been in there 5 times.

On trip one, I was looking for a box of the Walmart store brand answer to Splenda packets. On the fourth visit, I found one box on the shelf. On the prior three, there was just a gaping hole where the product should have been.

For the last two weeks, I've been trying to buy a jar of Great Value salt-free, dry roasted peanuts.
Not a jar, including 30 minutes ago.

On the 4th trip, I needed a large jar of Great Value crunchy peanut butter. C.J. takes his phenobarb stuffed into a dollop twice a day. None.
But one of two of the more expensive smaller jars.

I'm not sure I can remember the last time that I found everything I was looking for on one trip.

A friend of mine is the night manager of the produce department. I was talking with him about the problem Thursday night. He swears that they have recently hired quite a few more stockers.
That seems to be consistent with my observations.

And yet, seven days per week, there are gaping holes on most of the shelves in the grocery side.

Well, believe it or not, I think it might well be time for a bigger Walmart.

It just might be that the number of shoppers has grown to the point that there is not enough shelvage to keep the inflow ahead of the outflow of stock.

No way, you say?

Well, you know damned well Walmart can afford to put a new roof on the current St. Marys store. Yet, I've been in there many times during a rain storm when they had buckets all over the store under leaks. In this last rain spell, the number of leaks was ridiculous. Why no roof repairs?

With the money Walmart has, if , indeed the store is now too small, they could build a larger one or expand the current one in a heartbeat. They have room off to the west end of the building.

If that is the problem and the solution, they better act damned soon or I'm heading to Publix.

Anyone else fed up with the stockage problems?
Oh snap

I've been fed up with our Walmart for a long time. The problem is the manager, the little shrimp with the big glasses. I call him Mr. Peepers.

This guy has to be the worst manager in the entire Walmart network. Walmart has discontinued so many products that I used to buy there for years. For example: HamBeans Cajun 15 Bean Soup (dry beans with seasoning in a bag) they quit carrying it two years ago, Campbells Select Maryland Crab Soup (in the white can)- we add catfish, shrimp, artificial crab and frozen vegies - delicious. They quit carrying it a year ago.

If I thought about it, I could name a dozen other items that our Walmart used to carry, but dropped. They were all sellers, because they always had different quantities on hand.

The guy is just terrible. When I am at River city, I shop there. If I go to Fernandina, I stop in Yulee's Walmart or Target.

I give the guy a bad rating every chance I get.

Good observation. I thought that a week ago. I don't think a bigger one is needed....I think they just need to build another one. Kingsland maybe? Woodbine possibly? I don't think it would hurt to look into it.I really don't like coming down to St.Marys. If they would put one in Woodbine that would make my day. Granted, it would kill Woodbine Grocery...but I hardly shop there unless I just don't want to go to Wal-Mart.Usually only get charcoal or a cheap 6 pack. I think Woodbine would be a great place to put a Walmart. I would never have to travel to the lower half of the county again!

How much farther is the Brunswick Walmart from Woodbine?

OBTW, an attaboy to the service man in civies open-carrying a hi-cap Glock nine in a high-carry molded holster with his wife in Walmart Thursday night.

I've been thinking about a shoulder holster for my high-cap .45.

One thing I will say for the Walmart shopping experience is that you will see sights in Walmart you will not see anywhere else.

Last night, there was a young White gal in there with her husband who looked like he was probably a Marine.

This gal had a derriere about half the size of J. Lo's. She was wearing a pair of sheer tights that looked like they were only slightly thicker than black hosiery. Those were worn over a black thong.

Quite the show. Shake, rattle, and roll!

BTW, when the new Wal-Mart opened, it carried less items (not including the food area items) than the old store did. It just appeared that it had more.

It is about the same trip from woodbine to Brunswick as it is to St.Marys. I just hate going to either of them.

True that...the first store was the best of the two by far. Well stocked and knowledgable employees. Newer isn't always better, is it...

I don't think Woodbine could support a Walmart. Frankly, I would drive to Yulee rather than Woodbine (from St. Marys) because Yulee has so many other stores and restaurants. If I'm going to travel, I may as well go for several items from different stores.

Stop bellyaching and realize your station in life. Walmart or Walmarts as most of you call it provides your essential needs on a daily basis.

Now if you don't mind we must get back to the Sunday champagne brunch. We must discuss incorporating a boutique into a new welcome/convention center which we hope will be perfectly situated on the old Gilman boat house property.

Thanks once again for passing Splost 7. Your Walmart(s) is a gold mine in sales tax.

One thing for sure is your dumb ass is not from Woodbine. You may live here but you are a transplanted Yankee. North end locals are not Spencer supporters. We dare them to try that BS up here that they are trying in St Mary's.

I just thought of another "deficiency."
My dog, C.J., loves Purina T-Bonz dog snacks. I buy them from Walmart in a 45 oz. bag.
Can I ever find them in stock in the St.Marys Walmart? Oh, hell no. I have to buy two bags at a time from Walmart in Brunswick or Savannah.
Last summer, I needed another can of Black Flag flying insect spray. After finding NONE on the shelves for 3 weeks in a row, I button holed an assistant manager and told him about it.
About a week later, there was a ridiculously high
stockage level of it on the shelf.
How does that happen with a supposedly highly efficient re-ordering program linked to the bar codes of products as they are scanned at the registers?

Are the Spencers trying to bring a Walmart to Woodbine?

Don't know how I could have missed that.

The Saint Marys (31558) Wal-Mart is a joke. Shelves are empty, isles a cluttered, restocking during main shopping times
If one wants to have the best chance to get what one needs DO NOT VISIT THIS WAL-MART ON A MONDAY!
Comparing this Wal-Mart with the Wal-Mart in Yulee Yulee wins by a land slide. What is the different? Exchange the management and there will be an excellent Wall-mart in Saint Marys and a terrible one in Yulee!

Just got back from WalMart and I have to say that this thread is right on track, shelves were bare on alot of items or only one or two. They had two people stocking the shelves during prime time and one of them was wearing a suit and tie so he must be management or just likes to overdress for a stocker. The place is getting bad may have to start shopping at Pub-licks again even though the prices are DOUBLE

Well, let me explain something to you. First of all I live on the north end #2 I have been coming to this area all my life. My friends father at one time owned a Crawfish farm in Woodbine and we would come over here all the time and work that Crawfish festival and his farm in the summer. If you have been here all your life as you claim you do, then you could tell me who it was that owned that farm. If you cant, then you are just a fat ass liar!
