I've worked in LTC for 36 yrs...the majority of the caring people I've worked with are THE BEST!!! Nationality doesn't matter...I've worked with MANY from Africa, they are VERY gentle and compassionate with the residents. It's a difficult job, getting close to resident and their families, only to lose them. The families and residents are VERY thankful for what the staff does for their loved one, and they appreciate what we do for them. I work at this particular nursing home, we were NOT closed because of our cares, etc. If you'd read the article, it was a new mandate FEDERAL fire code.

I am one of the nurses losing their jobs at st mary's in less than two months. seeing the residents and their families move is the hardest part for me, as we became an extended family over the past years and now we have to split. jobs can be found again, but losing a loved one is heavy on the heart.
It will be a difficult transition

You say that you are "focused on (70) patient transitions", which is very important, but how about also focusing on the 150 employees who will suddenly be out of work?? Shouldn't St. Mary's be just as concerned with transitioning them into new jobs or new positions, as well?

Wonderful display of racism. Your mother would be proud.
