SO???? another shining example of why celibacy should be abandoned.
As long as there are no other proven accusations, such as financial, I will continue to support Father Stan. He has done a lot to increase membership and growth in our community. Fathering a child, in my opinion, is no reason to terminate his stay at St. Leo's. Those parishioners who would still have a problem with breaking the vow of celibacy can go elsewhere.
Let they who are sooooo perfect cast the 1st stone.

This is not about casting stones. One hallmark of being a Roman Catholic is that legitimate authority must be recognized. WE the flock are not charged with making doctrine. Protestants do things the other way. That is why there are a gazillion forms of Protestant Chrisitanity.
It isn't up to you. It is not up to us. Decisions are made by Bishops and the Pope in the Church. Like it or not...that is the way it was meant to be and that is the way it IS.
If you cannot abide in recognizing legitimate Authority or the concept and requirement of
Priestly celibacy then YOU should go elsewhere.
Your words are a slap in the face to those who are in fidelity to their vows.
We don't need more "Progressive" Lukewarm Catholicism. That is what is rotting the Church from the inside out. Our priests need our support and prayers.
You should continue to love and pray for Fr. Stan. But even MORE so you should support your Bishop and your next pastor.
You are Catholic...and that means giving the benefit of the doubt to the Bishop and leaders who struggle with decisions. Obedience is not a character flaw.

I pray for Father Stan, let all of us show a little mercy. I think priests ought to marry, who made that rule? Was it man made or was it word from our GOD. I love that notion, keep[ doing the same thing even if its broke. Iam a sinner, but please not let me cast a stone. Love thy neighbor as one self. And yes, dammit I feel for the practising Catholic. We all should love one another and thy inequities, should not we? The non-catholic.

The RCC is against abortion but a priest can hid his own flesh and blood, an innocent child so he can play Big Shot Priest. POT CALL KETTLE....
