Man faces charges in ramming incident

December 13, 2011

The Leader Herald

FORT PLAIN - A 46-year-old St. Johnsville man on Monday rammed a woman's car, punched her in the face, took her house keys and drove off while the woman was clinging to his car, police said.

Village police said Alvin Flanders, of 906 Youkers Corners Road, was arrested at 7 p.m. Monday after he turned himself in nine hours after the incident.

Police said Flanders followed the woman from St. Johnsville and rammed her vehicle twice with his while trying to get her to pull over. When she stopped at a gas station, he lunged through her car window and punched her in the face, then took her house keys and got back into his car, police said.

When the victim tried to get the keys back, Flanders drove through the parking lot at a high rate of speed while the woman was clinging to the outside of the car. The victim fell from the car when Flanders slowed down, and Flanders drove away.

Police said the woman was not seriously injured.

Flanders was arraigned in Village Court and charged with robbery and grand larceny, both felonies, as well as reckless endangerment and attempted assault, both misdemeanors. He was released on unspecified bail.

nice to see concerned citizen has nothing better to do than post other peoples business. How about you worry about what you are doing and leave other peoples private stuff alone. Do you just scan the paper and look for things to make peoples life even worse than the situation they are in? How about minding your own business and let them handle their situation without you sticking you big fat nose in it!

The girl that he hit was an ex of his named Tasha( not sure of last name). Alvin is finally getting what he deserves speaking of Karma. He trespasses and lies and is a hard core druggie. Hope the cops don't find all the pot plants hidden on his land.

How interesting that the StJ village news is reported by "staff report". Since Bob Smith writes all the StJ. village and town news, including one on the same subject Jan.5 I guess he has changed his name. Two great Letters to the Editor and I'm sure there were more. I truly expected some sort of apology or explanation from the Editor, Josh Thomas, who seems like a nice guy and his editorials are very interesting. Maybe he needs a little more time to "catch on".
