Mayor of St. Johnsville
Bamboozled

North Creek, NY

#1 Nov 15, 2012
Well, it's official. His royal highness, Mayor Barnes is the worst mayor St. Johnsville has EVER had! He couldn't get along with the best Head of the DPW we've had since Mr.Palmer, so we lost him. Then, he doesn't make sure the current DPW puts out flags on veteran's day. He removes the garbage cans from the street so people can discard their trash on the ground, as if the village doesn't look bad enough all ready. He only seems interested in attacking pussycats. The village may be falling down around our ears, but all the cats will be gone if Barnes has his way. There won't be a pussy.......cat safe in this town with Barnes on the prowl! Go get them, catman.

Assistant Mayor Crouse stated publicly that it wasn't the Mayor's fault about the flags. The DPW was at fault. Talk about having your people's back.

I heard flags were not put up for veterans because of cost to O T for village. I think I saw 3 Police on duty Friday nite to patrol empty streets. How much money is spent for that crap? A few years ago this village had 1 policeman patrolling on the street with 7 or 8 bars open. And stores open on Friday nites. How many people know the name of one policeman here. Just a few years ago we knew them all. What have we become? What a shame

Flags not put out on Veterans Day shouldn't be a reason to harass and belittle people. Perhaps the "observers" should have gotten off their gossiping rear ends and put the flags out themselves if it meant that much! The amount of time it took to put the letters on that sign at the intersection would have been more than enough time to put out a few flags! Embarrass your hardworking village employees and the village over some flags??? Are these the same people who raise and lower the unlit flag at the memorial in the park?? UNLIT is the key word...check the regulations regarding. "Old Glory". The same people who make a big deal on Memorial Day (only) should be taking a little more interest in the whole villages' Veterans observances.

I totally agree with In The Know. You hit the nail on the head. And just an fyi to the other moron here ... concerned citizens do not have access to the flags to put them up. Perhaps they should've put them up for the whole weekend? Better than not at all. I have a question also... who has the bid for maintenance on the gas guzzling police cruiser? Is it a local mechanic? If not... why?

Get your facts strait!unbiased!! There isn't one Veteran who wouldn't have given there time to put the flags up IF ASKED! The fact that they put that sign up is they were disgusted at people like you that say stupid stuff like they are just flags! Just guessing your sorry self has never served in the military. If you did, I'm sorry to call you a fellow veteran.

The mayor is the top of the chain of command, he represents the village as a whole and oversees that things in the village gets done, therefore him placing the blame on the DPW is a cowardly act on his part. As for the uneducated one who says putting up the sign was wrong because it embarrassed those responsible, well idiot, obviously you've never served this country, put your life on the line to defend this country and your rights, because if you had you would realize those flags have meaning and our veterans and those currently serving deserve respect, and more so the showing of our thanks!! You disgust me and you are an embarrassment!!! Mayor Barnes failed his job in overseeing that those flags were put up, he failed a large portion of this community, and worse, he passed the buck. He has forced out a great DPW head person, as well as another long time DPW employee, and a great police chief who really made a difference in this village. He's trying to do the same with other department heads. He has proven he wants to be in charge of everything, but he's seriously failing at doing so. Now, he wants to place blame elsewhere.....why?? Because he was publicly humiliated by his own failure?? Politics at their finest, place blame elsewhere, instead of taking blame yourself and apologizing!

Its so easy to blame others for what ever reason. Maybe others should take pride in there work as well as the mayor does.

Much easier to listen to the whining and "poor me" as well as the "moronic" name calling".

This can be a good site to voice concerns which might not be said publicly otherwise. The mayor and his minions aren't afraid to place blame on employees that aren't able to defend themselves.

The story goes something like this. A head of building and grounds had told people that he intended to retire in a couple of years. There were allegations of wrongdoings at the bus garage that this person had ultimate charge of. He, then, abruptly decides to retire and the school superintendent does likewise. Draw your own conclusions.
