AFter reading this article I wonder why anyone in the OE district would not support a merge. Do you really want to lose it all? I helped as a member of many school support groups to try to keep the sports going but the members of the sports boosters decreased to one or two individuals and the pogram was merged with first Dolgeville, which did not work out well and then wih St.J which appears to be working for students. As amember of the PTA I've seen afterschool activitis fr our youngest students and assisted in post pom parties for the older. I"ve also been active in AMPS and do not understand how anyone wants to lose this aspect of our school. Tuition out means that not only do we not have band but we lose the teachers who are so dedicated to our kids, and finally in a tuition out we lose our right to vote for board members on a local board of education who answer to us. I'm sick of the arguements that we would not be represented. We had over 800 come out to vote on the last merge vote. We can surely get out to get representation on a merged Board of Education. If You want to save a community spirit, and keep the OE community open then ead the Merge Proposal, andstop listening to the opinions of others. It's agreat way to protect or comunity, Preserve the building, save jobs inor community and povide an education for our children. Support a merge and create a stronger educational community oo nt let this community be tuitioned out.

So happy this piece of S**t is the BOE prez, great thought loser!!!!! Know wonder OE is getting trashed, with the likes of who is running the show damn shame,..... these people are PIGS!
Board President Ben Conte said the district should have someone gather information about the possibility of shutting down its school and sending students to Dolgeville, Johnstown or St. Johnsville.
@ Enough, If you think OE will still be operating in a year maybe two after a merge with St J then you are living under a rock. The problems with OE are the ones running the show. All they seem to care about is shutting down the school, heck SS was all for merging with DCS and said back then that OE would be shut down in a year, guess she was WRONG then, just like now! OE's BOE are a JOKE, and nothing but little butt kissers!

Atta boy Russom put the fear into people just days before the vote. Scare the hell out of them so that they vote the way YOU want them to. Tomorrow or Sunday you can bet Cindy and Ben will have their letter to the paper in the Leader, good little puppets! They all should be dragged out of OE and told never to return. What a disgusting display of greed and control....all of course for the sake of the kids! Shame on all of them and on all that believe their crap! Vote NO, then get rid of Russom and clean house on that board!

I don't believe I saw you at the board meeting. Several of us were there. I saw the elected officials who were voted in by the community questions Mr. Blanchard about his recommendations and opinion. Tuitioning out will be an option to consider if the merge is voted down as we are running out of funds but you'd have to attend a meeting and be informed to know that. This is not an option I'd like to see happen. Its time to put aside your dislike and hatred of DR and think of the children of this community. Actually if you dislike him so Vote Yes for the merge and since he has to apply for the position of superintendent in a merged district voice your concerns to the new board. I'm sure after all the stress of this merge he's ready to retire.

No I wasn't at the board meeting, I was at the concert supporting the kids, while the board was tearing apart the school and putting fear into parents. And for your information I attend most meetings and am very involved with the school...so know what your talking about before you open your mouth. And no I am not a Frasier before you come back with that one.

Obviously, you do not know all the facts yourself "enough". DR WILL still have a position "if" the school merges. He has a contract that has a merge clause. Haven't you seen it? After all you seem to know so much. Maybe you should look into this more, you seem to be believe only what they tell you. Has anyone asked about the million dollars they moved in funds this year? Humm..I guess we can't talk about that can we? There is more to this then you know. Let me ask you "enough" Do you attend all the meetings? Where were you over the last few years? Letís not be "the pot calling the kettle black." Unless you are a school board member or school official I hardly believe you, yourself, have attended all these meetings. If you think this school board doesn't have their own agenda you are wrong!

I seriously think someone needs to take a good look at the books and check on the finances. Funny how the study showed that both schools were financially solvent, then the next day that the vote went down Russom calls in the board for a budget mtg and everything is so bleak. Anyone who thinks that there is not hidden agenda is totally fooled. I don't understand how people cannot see how Russom and his board are attempting to put fear tactics to sway a yes vote out of the community. Russom has a contract he will get a nice raise for himself if the merge takes place. Wake up people! Russom has friends at the Leader.

What would non-paid elected members of a board of education possibly gain from a school merger anywhere? What a dumbass argument that is. And if Russom has a "merger clause" in HIS contract, does that mean that STJ's super just has to go? Seems hard to believe, so what are the actual details of this clause that you seem to have seen and analyzed so thoroughly?

Clearly you have your head in the clouds, Jansen, to ask such a question, what do they have to gain? I could go all night on that topic and I'm sure it wouldn't make a bit of a difference in your thought process. So, instead I will answer the more important question on DR's contract instead. The section is titled survival. It states if the district is resolved, annexed, merged or consolidated with one or more districts the Board will make every effort to appoint him to the Super in the new district. If that is not possible they will make every effort to place him in another position. In either case he is still entitled to receive the same salary and benefits until his expired term. If he is not appointed to position in the new district he will still continue to get paid until his term expires.

Thank you for that information, it proves what I have said all along, Russom gains from the merge, his interest is not the kids, it is his own financial interests at stake here.

Any one who would like to see contracts for school employees and the Boards of education only need to go to see through Mew York. It's at http://seethroughny.net/contracts/ You can educate yourself and not listen to all the other opinions.

Remember seetroughny then look at School Districts and Contracts Superintendents. None of us should rely on others facts. Not the Yes merge or the No. We all are responsible for finding facts out.

Read it you may actually see the facts as they are not as reported by others.

Enough, this is a great website. Too bad it doesn't have the most current information. I do believe even the merger study had a more current end date for DR's contract. The clause is on the most recent addition to his contract which is not shown on this site. Don't beieve me? Call the school Monday and inquire for yourself. After all you should be responsible for finding facts out first hand ;)

Sorry Mavis, I'm not interested in debating all night with people whose minds are "closed". Nor do I feel that personally attacking each one of them is right. I don't agree with what they are doing or why they are doing it. It is truly frustrating to watch what they are going to this community without hesitation. They are truly selfish people. But I am not going to stoop to the level of many and personally attack individual people here. Too often this site is used as a dumping ground, probably 90% of the time. People trash eachother under some fake name to feel better about themselves and spread rumors. It's wrong. The facts are out there. I'm sure you don't need me to point them out.

So what exactly DO Bosrd of Ed members gain in the event of a merge? And merge or not, what does the superintendent gain? If there is no merge- he remains the superintendent. If there is a merge, according to your info that can't be verified right now but apparently can be supported by a phone cell to the school on Monday, he's superintendent. Wow... Huge difference! Superintendent... Or Superintendent. What a GAIN! Almost as much as someone who receives. no monetary compensation for serving on a school board gets if a school merges! Wow!!! You are so clueless and desperate that I almost feel sorry for you for making yourself look like such an idiot!
