Our community truly needs to think about the possibility of a merge with St. Johnsville if the opportunity arises again. Think about the alternaives. Dogleville has already appoached the board about the possibility of tuitioning the 7-12 students to their school. This was stated by a OE Board member at the last meeting. Why? They want money and control. They do not want to merge and treat the community as equals, they want annexation. Our children did not play when inclded on their teams in the spring. St. J treats the children fairly. OE community is not willing or able to continue to finance education as the new 21st Century mandates are placed on it by the state. Our children deserve the right to be competitive in attaining their future goals. A merged school will have approximately 800 students K-12. Russom will retire and Ralph also. Both communities may build and create a better educational system for their children while maintaining local control and keeping taxes manageabe. If a revote occurs Vote for a MERGE and support the education of the children in these two communities.

@Seriously NOT thinking; Your post doesn't add up much like the forcing of a BS merger. 800 kids, oh really? Is there going to be a baby boom once the schools merge? If there is a merge(mistake) then at most there will be 600 tops but probably much lower. You're also using the good old fear everyone into it tactics just like last time. "If you don't merge giant spiders will come in and eat all the people in the community because OE residents are stupid!" Why don't you just fess up and tell us who you really are,....faculty???? maybe even DR or Ralph???

@ lost, you have the moniker right for yourself, You are lost. A merge will only improve education for the two schools involved. Children in the communities will have more options to select from to prepare for future careers, taxpayers will have the opportunity to vote for new board members and keep local control of their school. I'd much rather be building together for the future than watching a school be slowly dismantled and destroyed. Fess Up okay...I'm a parent with children in the school who wants what is best for my children, yours and those in St. J. I don't want to have to make a decision to send them elsewhere like others are currently doing. I'll wait a year and see what happens, if nothing than I'll export my students to a community that cares. All said..take off the blinders, stop hating the school, and help improve it.

How is it going to improve education? What are all these options that keep being brought up? Even the consultants said we'd need atleast a thousand kids in order to get any extra classes. New board members, that's a joke. OE will shut down with this merger and the OE residents won't have a leg to stand on when all is said and done. StJ has done a horrible job with their school/s and budgeting. They were told to merge with FtP or find a solution so they came crying to OE trying to sand bag their residents into StJ's mistakes. StJ didn't want a tax hike if they merged with FtP but they're more then happy to shove that same hike up OE's butt. If there is going to be a merge then I believe it should be done with honesty and made to benefit both communties not just one!!! Quit crying the blues about how your going to have to export your kids, it's a BUNCH OF BULL!!!

You might want to revisit the history of the Merger Study. The consultants that were hired by the districts were the ones who proclaimed that the most feasible option for a merge was between STJ & O-E. St. Johnsville didn't go "crying" to anyone - they were just sensible enough to try to ward off the demise of the small school districts that is on its way. Funny thing is that they are heads and shoulders above O-E in their ability to survive. O-E will be long gone in a few years, annexed by Dolgeville, Little Falls, or whomever. It will be a sad thing to see them lose their local public schooling option, but enough warnings have been forwarded. The State simply can't justify that community maintaining a school anymore. Then add to it that the dummies voted this year's budget down, and there's one of the final nails in the coffin. It's very sad for the people who actually DO care about the future of education for O-E kids.

LOL your killing me here, stop your stupid comments already.Do you seriously think anyone takes your comments seriously? You are so small minded and vendictive and the worst part is you think your actually quite clever while you cut up OE and people who don't agree with your crap. Why don't you stay in St J where you belong.....your comments clearly show you don't care for the kids of OE, you just care to see your own stupid comments. so shut up already.

Funny how these "yes people" can't back up their garbage so they instantly start the name calling and putting down a family that cares about the community. One word for them LOSER'S. OE was fine until the powers to be started all this merge garbage and then just like all years past, we get to hear the same horse dung, "If you don't merge the doors will shut within a year(boohoo)!!! BULL DUNG!!!!!!!!!!

A merger last December was all about our kids. NOT. The childish behavior of STJ board and the "YES DAN" attitude of the OE board is only hurting a merger. Those kids playing soccer are what education should be about, They are STJOES's. Just ask the kids. I wish our kids the best of luck this fall. STJOE's soccer will be awesome.

I love these people stating that the consultants in the merger study were biased. No shit. Who did they communicate with? Ralph and Dan. A merger is what is best for both of these districts, however, they both run the show in there districts. I agree mergerisbest, it is and should be about the kids. The merger vote and all the bullshit was not about OUR KIDS, it was about those two getting a good retirement. Soccer this fall will be STJOE'S. Good luck kids!!!!!!! And take this Chris Moshier, it will be STJOE'S.
