OE's vote is what counts

It's a shame so many from St J have voiced their opinions(and sometimes threats) about the "OE VOTE" on here, and elsewhere. I'll respect the opinions from those that this (hopefully) final vote represents, OE residents. ST J has had their day in the sun, seems like now that the ball is in OE's field OE is not suppose to make a choice, unless of course they agree with the bullying yesers from ST J. Really makes me wonder how is this going to work once we are joined, are the residents from OE going to get bullied into all decisions, if they even get to make any at all.

With that said I know not all ST J people are being pushy little worms but there are enough that it really worries me about the future. I also have to wonder what they are afraid of if OE decides the merge is not worth while? Many ST J posters have repeatedly said they're in no trouble and that they will be fine without OE, so why all the deep concern?

This vote is going to affect OE in a HUGE way, much more then it does STJ espcially if it goes through. OE may(and yes that is MAY) lose a school because of population with no merge, MAY.... BUT if there is a merge you can bet your last dollar OE will definately lose their school

What the hell are you talking about posters either way in a merger vote? The only things like that are in woodchuck country. I've talked to numerous people in ST J they would vote no if a choice. There are not any threats from here. Pushy little worms , we want you people to go to hell or DCS. They are chomping at bit to get your dollars.

I understand frustration but you really have to understand that there are many people in our community that support a merger. Yes the OE community and we are becoming very frustrated at all of your rantings about yesirs being bullys and not knowing what we are talking about. Please listen...many of us want a better education for our children and still would like to maintain our right to vote for board members. When an OE board member talks of tuititioning out the highschool and a vote hasn't even occured it makes you wonder about his ulterior motive is. I want to save the OE band, keep my tax dollars in Fulton County not Herkimer, support the HFM BOCES with my tax dollars and keep the building open in OE as a K-8. You say St. J has nothing to lose...Their children will be coming here and ours will attend 9-12 there. The Most important is that we will remain in charge. Yes, we will vote for members of a combined board of Education. The two schools come up with a new name, mascot and colors. Why would you want to sign away your right to vote and be represented. Does it mean so little to you? Please understand that there are OE people who believe that this merge is best for the community. I also blieve with a merge and only one superintendent that we will save money. I'm realitively sure that a merge would also see DR retire. It's a win win for us all. Local people would still be employed, our students receive a better quality education, the building that we have maintained and built remains used. Vote yes for a merge.

Good luck with that, if you think the OE community will have any say in the merged school you are in for a rude awakening!

When an OE board member talks of tuititioning out the highschool

NO ONE said this is what will happen, it is just a suggestion to save the school. IMO it is at the very least nice to see someone on the BOE atleast trying to stand up for their school instead of trying to fill personal agendas!

I want to save the OE band

With the merge you can definately say goodbye!

keep my tax dollars in Fulton County not Herkimer

With the merge your tax will end up going to montgomery and ST J!

keep the building open in OE as a K-8. You say

You can bet your last dollar that the OE building will be shut down within a year or maybe 2 with a merge, ask George Amedore. He was asked and said, "that would make the most, business, sense"!

St. J has nothing to lose...Their children will be coming here and ours will attend 9-12 there.

Not for long finacially it would make no sense. How does merging two districts and keeping all doors open save the state one dime, you need to pull your head out of the clouds and learn simple business!

The Most important is that we will remain in charge. Yes, we will vote for members of a combined board of Education. The two schools come up with a new name, mascot and colors. Why would you want to sign away your right to vote and be represented. Does it mean so little to you?

Wrong again look at the population and lay of the land ST J will be running the show, We might have an OE rep on the BOE as long as they play by the rules. Hey how about one of the ones we have now, they seem more interested in STJ then OE any way!

Please understand that there are OE people who believe that this merge is best for the community.

I think a lot are concerned about the communtiy whether they are for or against. The problem is getting facts and so far with that merge study there are not any, NOT ONE! Oooops made a mistake, there is one, confirmed by the consultants, OE's tax increase and ST J's decrease.

I also blieve with a merge and only one superintendent that we will save money. I'm realitively sure that a merge would also see DR retire.

Nope not true why do you think DR is pushing so hard, he would be the super atleast for a while, and no the other super has to be paid atleast for the remainder of their contract!

It's a win win for us all. Local people would still be employed, our students receive a better quality education, the building that we have maintained and built remains used. Vote yes for a merge.

WRONG WRONG WRONG, a merge may be a win IF(BIG IF) it had some guarantees, not a bunch of red tape and empty promisses! The OE building would be empty in a short time, all you have to do is take a simple look in history to other districts that have merged. The smaller district always gets eatin by the bigger, it's that simple, and makes the most logical sense. This merge is not about OE it is about making ST J a nicer place along the thruway and on the canal!!!! If you think this merger has anything to do with the OE community then you really have been blinded by the bright light sales pitch.

Dolgeville dosent want to merge with us because the dont trust us to make good decisions (see the last vote) They will take our kids because of our aid that goes with them. As long as we shut and do what we are told. They will throw away 15 million dollars to keep glenn, and the Frasier family to keep quiet. As soon as they dont, our kids will have to go somewhere else. Dont u get that!

Hilltoppers, as in the school sits on top of a hill. There are a lot of college teams that use Hilltoppers as their team name & it is sometimes shortened to Toppers. Will the new St. Joe's mascot be a cup of coffee with a halo? Haha- so much worry all along about school colors & what the teams will be called.

What's your point? Then call them the St. Joe Hilltoppers for all I care- I simply answered your question as to what "Toppers" meant. What an idiot!

Another thing that I find odd is, if DR is so much for mergers why was he against is own home towns? After all isn't the world going to blow up and all kids are going to be stupid if ALL schools don't merge?
