OMG! this tool is and idiot!. Its clear by the postings that people are sick and tired of the few family's in St. Johnsville attitude toward the rest of their community. Don't you get it "wonder why"? You are the problem!
Stop being divisive and bring the community together. The more you reference teacher tenure in your previous rants, the more we realize that the teachers union protects the lousy teachers that we as tax payers have to support. If board members have family members in positions at the school they will never make decisions against a teachers career advancement. For example, why did we make a math teacher in the high school acting principal in the elementary school? This teacher was responsible for multiple classes of students preparing for regents exams. Instead the students have been subject to a variety of substitute teachers, while the elementary school has a new principal without experience. Couldn't we wait until next year? We didn't because we wanted to put a teacher, well liked by her peers. in a position for job advancement ahead of the needs of our kids! Ohh and don't forget about a nice raise toward the retirement system! Who thinks she is a 3-4 years at that job and retire by the way? That is the problem with family members on the board.

You are sick of my postings because I continue to debunk every myth you naysayers keep spewing on here. Yes, I referenced tenure. Why? Because you said it's time to get rid of teachers, especially the ones in yout fictitious "family" or "clique". I simply reminded you of the tenure and seniority stipulations, so you'd stop making such dumb statements. And this just in: the St. Johnsville Board of Education didn't just make that system up to protect a relative that might work at the school. Duh. And who on the Board is related to the new Principal & was so interested in advancing her career and salary? And, again, there is no law about someone serving on a School Board if they have relatives working there, so you should just give it up, unless you're going to get off of your computer for five minutes and take up the fight with State Ed. It's not a Conflict of Interest in any LEGAL sense of the term, but in the minds of people like you, who are continuously paranoid that someone is out to get you. Just quit whining so the people who are actually interested & excited about what this new school can bring can get to work on it.
nice and easy

wow, looks like u didn't read the post above. To break it down for u nice and easy. How do you deny career advancement for a peer close to retirement? The increase in salary over the next few years is like a state worker padding overtime in their last 3 years of work. This time it was the expense of about 80 of her math students. Lets hope the regents scores don't suffer cause its all about the kids , right?????

. Wow- now you're COMPLETELY grasping at straws. She was the "peer" of the teachers, not the "peer" of the Board Members. Of course it leads back to your jealousy over someone's retirement, which you'd be contributing to through your tax dollars no matter who it was. She's a nice lady- and she WAS BORN & RAISED HERE- I hope she does well. And I wish the same to whomever they hire to be the permanent certified math substitute.

With all the worry about the big pay raise, can anyone give what the amount is? Or are you assuming there was a raise? I believe this is a short term appointment until July-ish. Not making it up, it was in the paper.

If you go to seethroughny.net , you will see that the difference in pay between the high school principal and the former math teacher is $5,000. So, you're logic is thrown out. Can none of you people be happy for a teacher, who took extra classes, sacrificed her time, to get a certification in order to progress in her career? She's not just a math teacher, she is also a certified administrator. The problem is, you hated teachers and have passed that belief on to your children. And instead of holding your kids accountable, you blame the teachers, or the principal, or superintendent or the board. Let me know how far your kid gets in life...Walmart is calling.

she may be qualified, but she can wait until the end of the year to get it. Dont push through your agenda.

And the agenda attached to choosing a qualified internal candidate instead of going through the process of interviewing outsiders would be what?

How do you know that know that the process of advertising and interviewing outsiders was not done? Do you have some kind of inside information you are not sharing? Or just talking trash, stirring the pot?

"I wonder why" you in STJ had to fill the position now? Was it needed before the end of the year with an inexperienced candidate? Thats all I hear from the board members running is that experience matters most, so why did they hire a career math teacher to fill the void without any experiance? Oh thats right, she graduated from STJ and St. Johnsville hires and votes for STJ candidates. Just like the flier says, right?

Mess, you should call NYS Ed and ask if was needed to be filled at this time instead of assuming you know everything. Since its only an appointment til July or so, is it not a great time to find out if this person is right or not and hire someone else if needed? What's wrong with hiring an OE or STJ graduate for a job? Who would you have picked?
I wonder why

Canajoharie, NY

I love how you continue to refer to people as "you in STJ "... Sorry, but there is no "you" anymore, which you still can't accept. The person before me asked two great questions- Why is it a bad thing to hire an OE or STJ graduate, and who would you have picked? See, the school has certain things that now have to be done by administrators, like 2 evaluations per teacher, by a certain date, or the school loses funding. Since the school had to wait for the state to approve the evaluation plan, and then the building principal was placed on leave, they were in a pinch as far as time running out. And that's just ONE situation they were facing. So please stop pretending that you have any idea about how a school works, or what's mandated, etc., because you don't. All you care about doing is trying to point fingers at and criticize people for nothing, except that the merger went through when you didn't want it to. Move on.
