No, I'm not talking about the official handicap parking spaces, I'm talking about the fact that a lot of people parking their cars in this city must be mentally handicapped.

I don't begrudge someone for blocking the sidewalk in the winter, when everyone is trying to cope with the city's ridiculous parking policy, but what's the excuse in the summer? On a simple walk from Monroe to Main last night, I had to go around no less than five cars blocking the sidewalk for no reason. A couple of times I had to go right out in the street. Not to dangerous for me, I suppose, but what about the elderly or kids on their bikes?

The best is the house on Garden that has had a trailer blocking the sidewalk for a couple of weeks now. Wonderful.

In the future, I'll be calling the police on these scofflaws.

Agreed. What really gets my goat is the people that block the crosswalks and the handicapped-accessible curbs that the city installed a few years back. The hilarious thing is, this happens all the time by the Y - by people who are going to the gym. You're going to the gym, but you're too lazy to park a half a block further away so that handicapped people can get up on the sidewalk? It's ridiculous.

I wish the police department would get serious about these kinds of "quality of life" issues. NYPD did under Rudolph "9/11 and a verb" Guiliani in the 90's, and made the city a much more enjoyable place to live and visit. Speeding, illegal parking, all of these issues are important. When do you think the last time was someone got a ticket for littering in this town? People do it all the time.

Oh they hand out parking tickets, but only in the dead of winter when all of us are desperately looking for parking. But in May when there is a lot of parking available the scofflaws are free to cause public safety hazards.

Soooo...when is there ample parking? Anyone with a store on Main St., post office included, park right on Main St, and postal workers park right up the street or on the hill. Why can't they park on Albany St. or upper Ann St.? Leaving spots for customers.

Oh I forgot Main Street is the only street in town!
