St.J., O-ECS merger School board changes may affect re-vote

Full story: Courier Standard

With area school board elections and budget votes on the horizon, St. Johnsville School District Superintendent Ralph Acquaro last week informed members of the board of education about a recently published article addressing the Oppenheim-Ephratah School District election on May 15.

This person is nothing more then a cog in the wheel of educational $$$$$$$ waste. Between him and the other greedy super they are trying nothing to improve the schools only their personal agendas. They both lied on several occassions and tried to fear people into a yes vote.

They do not care about the hate they have caused, nor to they give a crap what happens to the communities involved. What they do want is a nice fat paycheck PERIOD!!!!

If you think 120k is a fat paycheck, you need to get out there and see the world and realize 120k for a superintendent is pretty darn low.

If you think that's not a fat check for the area you need to wake up and start learning what's killing upstate NY.

Vote YES, maybe we can get STJ people on a school board that will do best for all our children. Not like the OE school board, YES Mr. Russom, Yes MR. Russom...They should be ashamed. Senior trip with chaperones partying, kids drinking and smoking, and they sit back and do absolutely nothing. STJ board does what is best for kids, OE board does whats best for Russom. YES Mr. Russom, YES Mr. Russom. They probably never even questioned him on the trip issue. These chaperones need to be disciplined.

Vote Cindy Breh. A merge is best for both districts. Get rid of Superintendent's Russom and Acquaro and start fresh. Our children will prosper. Our current superintendent's both have a hidden agenda, get rid of them both. Think of our children first. Education is about children, not overpaid superintendents. Maybe the Oppenheim board should all resign. Children first, not superintendents. Vote Cindy.

I'm wondering, does the oppenheim school board know that they have 7th and 8th grade boys unsupervised in the school between 3:30-4 each day. I was told that these boys wander the halls and have free reign during this time, with no supervision because our AD is not in the school because she is driving bus to Dolgeville. Do you know this board or is this another thing hidden from you by our superintendent? Who supervises these children?

ST J help OE bwahahahahahaha more like run OE into the ground take over and screw the OE community, kill house value, raise taxes!!! Does salisbury ring a bell. OE take a long hard look at what happens to the smaller communities in a school merger, then figure whats best to do. This isn't just about teachers getting pay raises it is about a community and how it can survive. If there has to be a merge atleast be smart about it and merge with a school that is on somewhat the same page. There is more at stake then just playing blind lamb and following the rest of the dumb sheep off the cliff. OE can survive with some changes, adding more issues only makes the problem bigger and hides the real problem. Please vote, it's your right but atleast vote with some knowledge.

Merging will raise teachers salaries, yes. But it helps out every kid in the long run, anyone who thinks what OE has now for a highschool is good, has problems.

@CmonSon OE is a bad school?????????? REALLY, show proof compared to other schools,%ages. You're blowing smoke without any proof, just to make a nice school look bad.
The area is what should base the pay rate, cost of living houseing etc.... You keep writting the pay isn't high but in all honesty for the area and WHAT IT CAN AFFORD it is. You can NOT compare a teachers salary up here to one in NY city, that is just not logical. If the area's average income goes up then by all means teachers should also. BUT in our case the areas is actually falling and the teachers still want more. The property owners are also getting screwed over on the teachers benifits (95%medical) this is unrealistic and could save the community major $$$$$(or just give it back to the school?). Bring that up in a board meeting and see how quick it gets shot down. If you think a merge will improve anything you are sadly mistaken. I've seen many mergers and have read many studies, NOT 1(ONE) study proved to show a savings nor a long term benifit/solution. Mergers have been going on for years but for some reason the education depart shows NO improvement from them, BUT then still tells communities it's the only way to do things, WHY? Red tape,$$$$ and confusion, is the answer. I believe the term for being nutz is keep repeating the same thing over and over while accomplishing nothing or maybe even making things worse. Attack the real issue's with the "education department" stop letting them control the people/community.

Your first three words are the answer you need to pay attention too. Averages in a community have to balance otherwise the community is doomed. If the prez were to get payed 450,000trillion a year, instead of 450,000, how long to you think the US would last? There has to be a balance, In our area the faculty is above the average. If the faculty wants more then they can go elsewhere and get it, and let a new teacher that wants to improve their life move in.
Tenure has become a HUGE problem with the education department, and a HUGE burden on the tax payer not to mention the childs education. Fix the problem and you'll solve the issues that are plaguing our educational system. People like the supers that have been mentioned(and pushing for a merge) are nothing more then a thorn and care NOTHING about education. If you don't want a stray dog to keep hanging around, you don't feed it!

Again with a very informative comeback????? I asked you to prove this you can not because it is not true. You also write nothing with any logical response, just bashing.
Believe it or not this is a serious issue and if any area in upstate NY plans on surviving they need to pull their heads out of their butts and solve the real issue's. Chasing bad money with good does nothing except cause even bigger problems down the road. Faculty that lie to fill their greedy little pockets help nothing, it is time for the community to STAND UP AND TAKE BACK WHAT IS THEIRS!!! If someone wants to teach and live in this area then they need to understand the pay is decent and the crime is low. If all they want is a fat check and not have to worry about how well they perform then go to the city. It is time to freeze wages change insurance coverage and possibly make some cuts. Those that have been living high on the hog are just going to have to make due until things get better PERIOD! They should be gratefull to have a job that can pay 40-50-60-70+++ thousand per year in this area. Not to mention they don't work a full year and receive 95% medical family coverage.

What about giving the kids in OE (who's parents cannot take them to an out of district school) a decent education. Get over your jealousy and go away. Because, it is obvious you do not care about the kids.....

Teachers in Oppenheim are one of the lowest paid teachers in the state.. ok they work in a low-income area, doesnt mean they need, or deserve, low income as well. And wtf does crime have to do with anything. Typical upstate ignorant view that anywhere out of the country is riddled with crime..

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Virgo

You have energy to burn today and it needs positive outlets, otherwise you'll be rather ratty and impatient. You want to work on activities that will show you in a good light, and you'll be annoyed if anyone objects to what you're doing or points out where you're going wrong. If you've been nursing a secret passion for someone, the frustration will really get to you.
