Robert Reinhardt Faces Theft Count

Police arrested the former information systems manager for the West Feliciana Parish Police Jury on Wednesday, Police Chief Scott Ford said.

Robert Reinhardt, 44, of St. Francisville, was booked at the Parish Jail on counts of malfeasance in office, felony theft by use of an access card and violating the state public bid law, Ford said.

Reinhardt was released on $15,000 bail, the police chief said.

Police Jury administrators fired Reinhardt on Aug. 1 after looking into allegations Reinhardt converted jury credit card “reward points” to his personal use.

St. Francisville police were called in after his dismissal, and Ford said the state inspector general’s staff assisted in the investigation.

Reinhardt has contended he was fired in retaliation for earlier challenging his status as a salaried employee who was not entitled to overtime pay.

He is demanding back wages for his overtime hours, attorney fees and penalties of twice the amount he says is due him.

Ford said the allegations in the case track those issued by the state Legislative Auditor’s Office report issued in December.

The auditors alleged Reinhardt cashed in reward certificates from an Office Depot credit card for personal purchases totaling $235 in October and November 2010.

The auditors’ report said Reinhardt also used jury credit cards for computer-related purchases totaling $229,535, but the auditors said some purchases were made without approved purchase orders and some were not supported by bids or quotes required by law.

Reinhardt denied the auditors’ allegations, saying the report used “inaccuracies and flat untruths” to paint a negative image of his department.

So does anybody know what happened to all those "points" acquired when parish employees were told to use the American Express cards for all purchases?

Isn't he the one who found the "Bug" Device in the Parish Manager's office?
Isn't he the one who increased the fee to get copies for record information to $1.00 a page to keep the public from snooping around in his and Sims's parish business?
Isn't he the one who refused to provide an inventory list of his purchases to the public and the legislative auditors?
Isn't he the one who refused the public's request for information by stating he had purchased products for Homeland Security?
Isn't he the one who wore a pistol to work to intimidate the public stating he was a deputy for Sheriff Daniel?

Mr. Reinhardt didn't complain when his salary jumped from $50,000 to $81,000 overnight. He didn't have any complaints except when someone questioned how he was spending the parish money. He did a lot of work for Mr. Depew and RBS as well. What happened to all that grant money??? Someone was paid well for putting down fiber optic for the parish with federal grant money???

NOT MR. DEPEW!!!!!!!!!! Surely he could not have been involved in something dishonest. I know he couldn't have been dishonest because the (then) president of the Police Jury told me so.

What about all the money he was spending at the Fire Station??? Did the auditors look at any of those purchases or was it just the police jury?? Who was overseeing those purchases?

Not taking up for the man, just asking, what work did he do for RBS and Money from which grant? Do you know who put the fiber in? Do you know what it cost? Lot of conjectures. Would love to see if you can answer the questions. This is where you put up or,,,,,,,,,,

Thanks, Oscar for the question. How does the general public, board members, elected officials get this information??? It is very difficult to know what the officials are spending our money on. You always seemed to have the inside scoop. How do you get your information.. Would you give us a breakdown of who paid what and what we actually got for our money. I know that I saw RBS cameraman and RR out at the courthouse, DA office, police jury office, Sheriffs office laying some kind of cable. Mr. RBS could film the goings on at the courthouse while sitting in his office on Hwy 10. What did this costs the taxpayers and what films are available to the general public???

Were it ever fully known the true cost of what Depew has "reaped" from the taxpayers of this parish, I honestly believe there would be a very broad and encompassing investigation by the Attorney General's office. One day, if we're lucky, it may all come to fruition.

Ask the parish. No inside scoop, just asked for facts related to your statements. Not seeing any. Ask Mr. RBS
