She has no business running our sports park! She is a control freak and has no people skills. She only surrounds herself and communicates with the people that she can control.

I think she does a pretty good job. Sounds like u just have a personal problem with her. SHe did a great job starting up the adult softball league and does well with all the kids sports.

Where have you been? She cut the deadline off for soccer and don't allow 13 kids to play.. She is charging for lights to practice on the baseball fields.. And as far as the softball league.. Randy started that. Wake up! She is about the Almighty dollar not the kids. Even the Parish Manager is upset with her. Open your eyes

She will never get the support needed to get another complex. Might as well give some of the money to the 4H shooting clovers. Oh that's right... She will not be able to control them so that's a no no!!!! Get involved and informed. You know absolutely nothing but your small case.

So if she is replaced. Who can do a better job?

She has a budget to work with, hence charging for the lights, you might even want to check with the police jury because they might of been the ones that said she needed to charge to make ends meet.

In addition she is the one that started the Adult Softball league.

She has also started running programs and other things.

In this town you are always going to have someone mad if you don't bend the rules for them, she has done a great job and I have seen nothing but positives from her. Like trying to get the PJ to use the sale of the town park to make additions and up grades to the parish park. She was voted down by the way.

Yep she was voted down. I was there. She sure didn't put up much of a fight nor did she have her homework done. Percy had all the stuff but failed to appeal on the boards senses. He pushed instead of pleading. Called Lea Williams out several times in the meeting and I am sure that is why she voted against HIM. Sad sad sad. Etch it fall. Keep supporting and eventually we will not have anything. You don't know who could have do e better because no one else was interviewed. Check your facts again!!!!

Oh and Randy started softball several years back. And I bet you probably did not know we had a semi-pro team that use to play up here on Sundays... You know nothing but your little case.

I'm starting to think you know nothing but your little case either ma'am. Randy might of started one but the teams that played this year never heard of it, guess that is why it was not a success.

Step outside of yourself and your situation and perhaps you would see some of the good things that she has brought to the table.

And on the subject of not fighting hard, perhaps she knew that she needed to not "push" hard, after all as you said, pissing off another juror by calling her out is probably why she voted against it.

You're pretty useless yourself "uselss"

Did you stand up and voice your opinion last night or did you just sit back and wait to complain here on this site? I'm willing to bet you're like most of the posters here, you like to just sit back and bitch anonymously.

Oh wow…okay. So 13 parents were too lazy to get off their arses in time to sign their kids up before the cut off time and it is her fault? Deadlines are deadlines, if I don’t pay my property taxes before the “deadline” they are going to sale my property, they are not going to bend the rules for me. Why should they bend the rule for your kid? Are you just that important?

And it cost money to have those lights running and to pay someone to switch them on and off and be up there while you are using the facilities for free. Would you prefer to pay more property taxes to pay to have the lights on? Or how about they charge you more to play on the field during the day to help balance out the cost of running the lights?

The Parks and Recs are running on a skeleton budget and they are doing a great job. Everyone loved the softball league this year, and I know a lot of people that joined the 5k program, loved it and is now doing the 10k.

I like her and appreciate the work she is putting in to bring new programs to the parish.

She was not voted down. Percy wanted to force the children in this Parish out of their own Sports Park so he could turn the Sports Park into a business venture. He wanted to force a vote for over a million dollars of taxpayers money for the building of another profession baseball Quad. My friend who is on the recreation board said that Percy won't listen to anyone. The new rec manager wanted the money to be used for the benefit of all the children and adults of the Parish not just a vunchnof outside tournament teams. She does not have the money to make up the additiona half million it would take to build another tournament field.
Besides, the purchase agreement for the property has not even been signed yet. The money is not even here. The jury voted to put the money is a special reserve LAMP account so when there is a need and adequate time has been spent in planning it can be obtained. Wilson did not want it just going into the General Fund.
Megan was not voted down.

Thanks for clearing that up Tommy Boy. I was not able to attend the meeting last night.

I thought it was odd that Percy seemed on the side of Parks and Rec. He is a pompous arse that thinks he knows it all. Doesn't surprise me that Useless seems to like him from the attitude he/she is displaying here.

From what it sounds like they actually made the right decision. Good for them .

I have been here. To bad if people misses the deadline. That is there fault not hers. And randy did a terrible job here which is why he is gone now. He did not start the coed softball league. And for the lights, it cost money to run them so I can see why they would charge peolpe. I don't want to pay it so I've never used the fields at night. Stop bitching about people and how they do there jobs. I bet u were one of the main ones complaining about the assessor and complaining about the sherriffs office. U just like to complain and judge others to make yourself feel better. Get over it and leave her alone.

Just in case anyone doesn't know this, the proposed quad was part of the original master plan for the park. It is not something that has only come up due to the sale of the other property. The funds were never there to complete it. Personally, I think we need to have a set of fields built that are available to ANYONE to use during the day, and by request at night. The current fields at the park are kept locked to keep them looking the way they do. The rec baseball teams used the town park for all practices, as well as anyone else that wanted to go out and play with family and friends. That HAS to be replaced. I agree it should not be looked at as a business venture. It needs to be looked at as a way to sustain your community. Mel won't have to worry about having any tournament teams coming here b/c the entire program will die off. If dads can't bring their kids out to a baseball park to introduce them to the game, they are not going to be interested in playing the sport in our programs. Baseball is the largest money maker in the form of registration fees that we have. This helps keep ALL the programs available to us(tennis, soccer, flag football, etc). If you can't keep your own people involved in the programs, you won't be able to sustain the facilities, and then nobody will want to come here for any type of events. Also, I coach teams in just about every sport offered, so I am not just a crazy baseball dad worried about tournament teams. I actually prefer the rec league over that format. But we can't have something taken away from us and not get it replaced with something of at least equal value.

After Mel Percy's rude hostility to fellow juror Williams at the last PJ meeting, kinda makes one wonder...the previous jury was noted for attacking her as well and trying to make people think she didn't know what she was talking about, and guess what? She DID, which led to exposure of a bunch of criminal charges against some of the very ones trying to make her look the fool.

Percy had stated to numerous individuals before he was sworn into office that one of his main goals was to make Williams look bad in any way he could. He was great friends with Ambrose Sims and felt he needed to vindicate Sims for being terminated. This was the reason he insisted on having Garrett serve as the Parish's attorney on the Home Rule Charter plan. He knew that Garrett was Sims attorney.
Mel and Becky Hilliard don't miss a chance at attacking Williams.
