I just read James Minton's Advocate article about the vote to repeal. It seems that Howle would have been a yes vote to repeal if it was necessary.

The HRC is poorly written. I am all in favor of convening another committee to repair (neuter the PP,)it prior to the repeal if that's legal.

The jurors all agreed that this Charter was BAD. Even Mel Percy.
To suggest we should just hold our noses and accept it is ludicrous.

We now know the Districts will not work. The parish can no equitable be drawn into 4 Districts so the plan is to rush the job and put the Presient in place (Ms. Lauren Fields). before getting the Charter plan approves.

the poor jurors in place will have to try to amend the terribly written document as Cohncilmen. Mel and Lauren will run this Parish straight into the ground.

Intimidation is working on their side. Even Ma, Howle backed down knowing the Charter is bad for the parish and her people.

Here is the ariticle, I personally think this is far from "right" , are we going to vote to repeal every tax 6 months after it passes by a small margin too on the grounds that "people didn't know what they were voting for"

Did Lea Williams really say that she didn't know whay she was voting for when she voted to put the HRC on the ballot last fall? The same Lea Williams that immediatly through her hat in the ring for the Parish President seat?

From what I understand there is going to be a petition started today to recall Lea Williams, and if it is true that she openly admitted voting ill informed on something as important as a change of government...I will personally go door to door to collect signatures!

Williams, Kean, Howle, Young, Lambert, Wilson all said that they did not think the Charter was food for the Parish. Even Mel Percy said he did not like many things in the Charter.
There are many things in the Charter that were not known. What was said at the meeting is that the jurors were told by their attorney, Mr, Hughes was that the jurors could not discuss placing the HRC on the ballot. Ms. Howle asked the attorney at the meeting if the redistricting map could have been prepared and placed on the ballot so that the people voting would have known what they were voting for or against. In regular Jones fashion, he danced for the crowd. Saying yes they could have requested the HRC to have included a redistricting map prior to presenting the Charter.

If Lambert and Howle both agree that the Charter is not a good plan for the Parish, why didn't they give the people a chance to look over it again and have more discussion on what is actually in the plan so the people could have made an informed decision?
We need them to speak up if they truly have concerns for the protection of the Parish and the People.

Lambert and Howle has both said that though they personally had concerns about it, the jurisdiction they represent voted in favor for it and they are going to vote what their jurisdiction wanted. You know, like they are supposed to do, and that is represent the people that put their but in that seat.

In regards to placing a map on the ballot, the answer was yes they could, it has been down before, but why drop $20,000 on putting a map together that may be knocked out and have to be redrawn on a ballot before the parish approved the charter.

The craziness to all of this, is that the things they want to be changed CAN be changed through amendments once it is enacted.

What Mel Percy said was that there were a couple of things he thought might need to be looked into with the HRC, but this could all be done once the HRC was put into place. It was voted on it was passed. Stating "I did not know what was in the HRC" is not a good answer. This was the common comment made by most of the PJ. This is not a racial thing, this is a VOTE issue, we voted, it was voted in. If you did not vote sorry, you had a chance. There are no do over's in politics and no crying. Lea Williams needs to put her big girl panties on and get over it, she needs to do what her district voted her in to do.

Mel doesn't like what is in the Charter but says lets put it in place anyway and then we will make changes as we go along.
Yeah, right. Just like now the attorney is telling everyone the Districts are illegal but that's okay. Just pass the thing and we will change it to fit our needs.
Of course, he will need a super majority to make any changes. His chosen President will VETO whatever doesn't fit for the BLUFFS and STAR HILL. The rest of us are just left hanging.

The rest can vote for the president, it is not Mel's chosen one. Once again it is all about the VOTE, stop trying to make more out of it than it is.

Its funny that the Town and the Tourist Commission were removed by this group from the Economic Development Board.
I guess it is back to the idea that the People and Businesses in Town don't pay taxes to the Parish Funds.

Less District Representation, More Expense for the Elected Officials. Bad Government.
I can't believe the plan is to JUST FIX IT AS WE GO ALONG.
Leaving this in the hands of Mel Percy is frightening!

They both don't like the plan. They both said they think the plan is bad government. They both said they didn't tell their voters what they saw was problems with the plan. They both do not want it. But they both are unwilling to stand up for what they know is right for the parish.

Don't be fooled by all the loudmouthed support. There's a whole lot of quiet opposition to HRC, and it's not all race-based by any means.

I will go door to door supporting Lea Williams in her attempt to rid this parish of HRC. It was falsely reported that it would be a cost saving matter.
If it does not get repealed we will need someone like Ms. Williams protecting this parish from the sharks that are already circling. Look at all the attorneys salivating at being the Legal Department Head. What's that going to costs us?

So you would rather have Ms. Williams, who has shown that she is not true to her word. Did not support the people who voted her into this position and whose only argument last night was, "I did not know". When she was voted in (Yes she was VOTED IN), it became her job to know. Now she wants to whine and make people think she is being given the bad end of the deal. Actually what she really wants to do, is she wants the position of parish president, which she is in no way, qualified for. Think about it. Is that what the parish really needs, is a woman that crys to get her way???? and does not do what she promised??
First I was for it, now I am against it??? yep that is what we need for sure.

One thing is for certain, the parish is now in another lawsuit, I wonder if they are willing to forego their pay for the rest of the year to help offset all of this. Iím sure Otis want mind, after all he said he would spend whatever it took right?
