I was born and raised in Sauk Rapids and St Cloud. There have been stop signs on Lincoln Ave at that intersection for as long as I can remember, and that's over 40 years. And, the bus driver was doing EXACTLY what she was supposed to do. She was headed south on 15th and right after the intersection the BNSF tracks cross 15th - and state law REQUIRES buses and other specified vehicles to stop and visually clear train tracks before proceeding. The guy driving the cab, unless he just moved to St Cloud, was running the stop sign to make time, pure and simple. Any long term resident or native of St Cloud knows those stop signs are there, and a cabby whose driven over there repeatedly (and I worked for Yellow Cab so I know they do a lot of pick ups going thru that intersection) would definitely know about those stop signs. And, that's ignoring the fact that he missed the big yellow object right in front of him, which IS easily visible coming from either direction on Lincoln Ave. The back end of a bus, stopped at the tracks, would reach back to the intersection of 15th and Lincoln, and even if the bus had started crossing the tracks, it would still be easily visible until it was passing the house it ended up hitting. The fault is totally with the cabby here.
