We don't need outsiders deciding Minnesota elections. Besides that, why did it take 2 writers to do this short article? Maybe that's why newspapers are going bankrupt?

There seems to be an effort to make this seem like the problem people are having with Bachman's remarks are the anti-Obama rhetoric. I understand that approach by Bachman, the problem I have is not with her Obama remarks but with her McCarthy type approach requesting that the news media should do an investigation into members of congress who have anti-American views. What's wrong with this person? She obviously isn't a someone who has learned anything from the history of this country. She seems to share the views of Joe McCarthy rather than main street USA.

Ms. Bachman, you know what anti-American is? It's when someone accuses someone of being anti-American because they do not share your views.

YOU are an embarrassment to the state!

Hey, She's right. Ayers is anti-American. He wants to take America down and rebuild it a socialist state. People need to read their history. I think I'll be sending Ms. Bachmann some money.

I've seen Rep. Bachmann on Larry King Live quite a few times over the last few months. She appeared to me to be set on cruise control, unyielding and unlistening, with gossipy type vitriol streaming from her mouth. She smiles as she speaks of this "concern" she has, much like a teenage girl who grins when she tells her best friend "I hate to be the one to tell you this, but..." and "have you heard about so-and-so?" I do not like the way her eyes light up and flash when she saying snipey, snarky things and interrupting other guests on the show. If I knew Rep. Bachmann personally I might have a better opinion of her, but the personality that keeps showing up on Larry King scares me a little.

If you don't want outsiders deciding the fate of your elections, keep you representatives off national tv suggesting that the news media needs to investigate congress (my representatives as well as yours) for unAmerican views and activities. There is a time when political rhetoric goes too far.

I listen to political rhetoric all the time. I don't like it from either side but realize it's part of politics. With all the nastiness of this years campaign, I have only heard one candidate who prompted me to action. Michele Bachman. She did what Obama couldn't do. She did what McCain couldn't do. She did what Sarah Palin, Joe Biden or any other candidate or talking head couldn't do. She prompted me to make a political contribution.......to her opponent.

This air-head is dangerous!

Dear Pioneer Press:

So, um, I'm curious. If I were to say that someone posting on here was "anti-american" or "a friend of terrorists" or implied that he/she was a 'baby killer'-- would I lose my privlilege to post here?

Donating to Tinkleberg is just throwing away your money. In fact donating to any politician is pathetic.

Bachmann claims one side might be anti-American. The other will say no way! Then there are those like "dmz(above post)" That will possibly say anyone is anti-American or American...What the Hell?
What I love is that both sides want change! Both sides seem to want to balance the budget within their four years. I hope time will grant them that without leaving out the people! Money, time, happiness/wellness don't seem to go hand in hand.

...and this article didn't even cover the worst of what she said. Bachmann went on to encourage the media to, in essence, investiagte other congressmen for anit-american views. Afterwards on the same program, inital response to her comments included references to Joseph McCarthy and and a slippery slope to fascism.

When it comes to family values, it is not unreasonable to wonder if Bachmann grew up in a family with jack-booted "brown shirt" values.

dmz, and I know your kind. Pathetic, is to follow a path of failure and not have enough sense to change course. You are right about one thing. I'm not a happy person when it comes to hearing someone like the esteemed Congresswoman Bachman spout like a volcano and randomly throw out ideas that were roundly shunned and vilified fifty years ago. And if you support those ideas, then I indeed DO know your kind. That would be the more accurate definition of pathetic

This article is somewhat off the mark in suggesting that the surge in donations is because of Bachmann's remarks about Obama. Although those remarks were uncalled for, they weren't exactly surprising and seemed to echo what other Republicans have been saying. The reason why so many people across the country are outraged and donating money to Tinklenberg is because of what Bachmann said later during the interview. When Chris Matthews asked whether there were other members of Congress besides Obama who are anti-American, Bachmann said that the media should conduct an investigation to determine which members of Congress are pro-American and which ones are anti-American. Basically, she called for a McCarthy-style witch hunt of ALL liberal members of Congress. THAT is what has left so many people outraged.

Excellent story Ms. Boldt. Bachmann's comments were disturbing and harkened back to an era of McCarthyism, fearmongering and smear campaigns. One can only hope that Bachmann is thrown out of office.

Alamosexual, yes their are facts to look up from both sides. Yes, some are true and some are not. This is in no way to defend Bachmann but what I find funny is that the politicians play into this game and so do the people. How do I know what you read and are writing about is really true? This tight political season is fueled with so much! So many games/mind games! It makes people like not want to waste my time voting. Absolutely sad! But truth!

Last post and I'll go away.

My point to posting in the first place (as I explained in my first post) was because of what David and some others mentioned. The story made it sound like folks were outraged by the Obama connection. Hearing Obama linked to terrorists and Wright is nothing new. We've heard it from a hundred different politicians. I don't think any of them have generated the outrage that Bachman has. Why? It's because of her call to investigate congress for unAmerican thoughts, activites, whatever! NOT because she slammed Obama!

To either not investigate "why" the outrage or fail to report why the outrage by the writers of this story is a simple misrepresentation of the facts. Either that or failure to follow journalistic due dilligence.

As I said, many have slammed Obama and his ties, not many have drawn the ire of citizens nationwide. Why would Bachman? It's simple. It wasn't her attack on Obama, it was her attack on anyone who doesn't agree with her political doctrine, to the extent of asking for an investigation into the views of members of congress.

Wow! The left is thinskinned.
It's perfectly fine to have Reps like Ellison and Kucinich file impeachment motions?
Yet, women Reps are supposed to stay silent on their concerns.
Talk about double standards!
And her comments were absolutely tame compared to some of the commercials ripping Norm, AL, madia, Paulson etc
The left, with their media allies, push inane talking points, and this story PERFECTLY illustrates that:
Kucinich can call the President so un-American he needs to be removed from office. He even gets some positive press, because the press believes W is a criminal.
vs
MB cant dare question the actions of Obama. Shame on her!
Hilary is on to something about the double standard.

I can't agree with everything Bachmann says, but why would anyone vote for a dem? Do we really need more government, more welfare, higher taxes for those who are working, free money from the government for those who are not working, check card voting, more stupid tort lawsuits, etc?

My previous post was judged 'off topic.' HOW? Because I'm not playing the typical game of politics? Left or right? The fact is Bachmann is saying that there are anti-Americans in America! People in office or on main street or the city. What American leader says someome is anti-American? Especially if they are trying to bring change. Change is the future. Bachmann, Your own party is bringing change. Is that anti-American? Are the dems being anti-American because they can't lead a majority or the Rep. being anti-American because they can't lead the majority.
We all don't know till we vote and till the numbers are counted correctly without error.....
