How horrible for the occupants of the SUV. They just got a "life sentence" of suffering the consequences of someone else's neglect/disregard.

If people can't love, they often become sadists.

No kidding. How much did these horrible, awful people have to drink? Of course they were drunk out of their minds. Who else is out at 1 in the morning? These old people should be in prison until they reach much older age.

What a drunken redneck. Way to go and blame it on the victim. I suppose you also think a woman deserves to get raped because she wore a low-cut blouse? People like you should be shot.

"Alcohol does not appear to be a factor for the driver the state patrol reported."

At least they didn't blame it on the SUV like Kare11 did - "SUV hits, kills Minn. teen walking on highway".

Minnesota State Patrol as Matthew J. Schueller, was walking or standing in the right traffic lane of U.S. 10 just before 1:15 a.m.

How drunk was he??????????

What an idiot you are. The family thinks it was suicide. Some of his family are my neighbors.
Now everybody quit speculating and leave the family alone.

We live in an open society, not a closed one like the Soviet Union. The person should have realized that they would make news when they walk on the highway, at night, at 1:00 in the morning. If this poor person didn't want speculation then they shouldn't have gotten others involved. We all feel terrible for the poor drivers of the vehicle, as well as this distraught young person. The drivers of the vehicle are completely innocent and were brought into this by a distraught person.

Did you even bother to actually read the story? It's obvious you're out to lunch. The driver didn't do anything wrong at all. The poor kid was out wondering the freeway in pitch darkness. The driver of the vehicle is completely innocent of any wrongdoing in the least.

He was not drunk he just got off work from Burger King and his car would not start and had no ride home so he walked home only to be hit and killed. This boy was doing nothing wrong. Why do people automatically jump to alcohol as a factor. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Peace be with both families especially since a family friend was the one that struck him.

Seems to me headlights are designed to light up enough highway to allow you to stop or swerve to mis something on the road.

I always turn on my high beams whenever possible to see what is on the road.

Why do drivers get a free pass when they run over someone in the dark?

Headlights are for more than allowing you to stay on the road.

What a terrible thing for you to say. I know the driver of this vehicle and her family. Making comments such as this make you no better than the next person.
What I would like to know is, what kind of teenager doesn’t have a cell phone these days? If his car wouldn’t start why wouldn’t he have called for a ride? I am sure his parents would have come to get him; the last thing any parent would want is their son or daughter walking down a hwy at 1:30 in the morning.

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and that of the dirvers.

This is the 4th person that has been struck on HWY 10 near St. Cloud w/in the past 6 months- 3 of the four have died. 2 of the 4 have been proven attempts of suicide- one happened the same night this accident occurred.

seems to me there is lack of patrol.

Maybe drivers need to slow down so as to not overdrive their headlights.

Do ya think???

Ever hit a deer? I have hit 2 deer going 40 in a 55; the deer are much brighter than someone wearing black in the dark walking down a HWY
Also to the above comment regarding headlights- you DO NOT drive down a HWY with your brights on - it will blind any on coming traffic. Since this is a HWY I am sure there was on coming traffic or maybe cars in the same lane.
This woman has worked at the High School for many years, and is by far one of the kindest, most giving person that I have ever meet. What she is going through whether it was a suicide attempt or not, she will live with for the rest of her life. She is a mother and a very caring one at that, I can't imagine what she or this family is going through.
