hate to say it but she was in the wrong. This is a christian school teaching christian values . One of which is no sex outside marriage. How can you teach kids that value being pregnant and not married?. The question here is do the apply standard to all i.e. if man is caught cheating on wife will he be fired?

she was in the wrong. This being a christian school they taught abstinence till marriage. Hard to tell students to wait till marriage if their teacher is pregnant and not married. Some will say that as an adult it is her right to do what she wants and the school should not but it, however if it goes against the schools moral policies, then they have the right to terminate employment

This lawsuit could go either way.

She did willingly tell her boss that she was pregnant prior to being married.

Yes, of course, Jesus would've fired her and then told all of the childrens' parents what a sinner she was. The school missed a dare to be great moment to promote Chrisianity's principle of forgiveness through redemption by showing the children that while she may have made a moral mistake in fornicating, that by doing the right thing in not only keeping the child (not aborting it, right?), and getting married through holy matrimony, that the Lord would look out for those who right their wrongs. Instead they got all old testament and now I hope they feel God's wrath for their judgement in the form of litigation.

The questin here is if a male teacher anounces he would be a father outside of marraige (gf works somewhere else) would he be fired. You cant hide preg. if you are a woman. A man you can...

as far as teaching....
would it be teaching forgiveness, or just u have toget married if u get preg. The principle here is not forgiveness it is abstinance. How do you teach the teens that if you then say dont do it, but if you cant wait till marraige and get preg. marry and all is forgiven?

Just because the school is a "christian" school" doesn't put them above the law. She is not clergy and therefore has legal rights just like anyone working in the private sector. Her law suit should be based on the fact that Ennis disregarded her right to privacy along with the wrongful termination. She sounds like a hard working and loving person who was judged harshly by persons I would assume have also made mistakes in their own life. I say keep your head up girl and walk with pride...hope you win your case!!!

Forgiveness and redemption win over abstinence every time as we are all sinners, and all sins are equal in the eyes of the lord. In today's world of convenient "birth control" promoting LIFE by showing positive outcomes for doing the right thing has MY vote. Now, these kids have seen their teacher effectively ostracized for her pregnancy. How do YOU think THAT will shape their actions in the future??? I would not be surprised if this results indirectly in at least 1 abortion. And THAT is the real shame!

You make this statement as though other religions, even atheists are not bigoted. Is that what you wish to state? Everybody is bigotted, every single person on this planet.

I think this principle screwed up BIG but, it's only "slander" if what he said wasn't true. It WAS possibly however, an invasion of privacy although, she volunteered the information so, I doubt that would stick. The only real legal recourse I believe is what is stated in the article which would be a wrongful termination lawsuit. That's just monetary though, I'm more interested in what is right. That being PROMOTING and CELEBRATING people who do the right thing, which is what she did.

Would she have been fired if she told the principal she ate to much over the Holidays? Would she have been fired had she said that her neighbor had a new car and she was envious?

Why should the students be informed of a teacher's personal life?
Ridiculous.

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone!!
NO ONE AVAILABLE, for that job. NO ONE QUALIFIED!
I wish I knew the school principal involved,as I LOVE EXPOSING ALL OF THE CRIMES THEY COMMIT, to run their schools and their personal lives!(I have seen more than you would beleive, from school officials across America. It is amazing that ANY kid graduates without being killed/abused/molested/bullied /etc. CORRUPTION IS RAMPANT IN ALL SCHOOLS!! IT ALWAYS HAS BEEN! They used to do a better job of covering it up, MANY DECADES AGO!!)

Maybe she should state that it was only partially her fault. SATAN TEMPTED HER, and she was not strong enough to resist his temptations!!!
IT IS THE CHURCHS' FAULT, for NOT FIGHTING HARDER AGAINST SATAN!! LAZY CHURCH LEADERS! PRAY HARDER! PRAY FASTER! YOU FAILED THIS poor young teacher, when she needed your strength and protection!
Or perhaps it is GODS FAULT. Was it GODS WILL that caused this event?? Who is qualified to decide?? Aren't people told NOT TO question HIS WAYS!!!! That his reasons for events happening are NOT ALWAYS MEANT TO BE UNDERSTOOD BY US MERE HUMANS!
ANd who says that she was guilty of fornication???
She said that she conceived a child, NOT THAT SHE FORNICATED!
The school is WRONG to ASSUME that fornication occurred, otherwise the entire story of MARY AND THE BABY JESUS WOULD THEN HAVE TO BE QUESTIONED BY ALL FOLLOWERS!!! ASSUME and you make an A$$ of U and ME!!

If she started out the school year with out a ring on her finger, or w a different sir name, and changed it /ring appeared, it would be obvious she got married. It wouldn't take a math wizard to figure when the wedding happened and when the child was/will be born. Even if the kids didn't put two and two together the parents would. Ask any woman first question when is it due, followed by how long have you been married (assuming ring is on hand)). You can bet that even if the kids didn't mind the parents, who pay the tuition, would have a fit.

Per the article she signed one but it was vague on what was not acceptable.
