Dave, buddy, I sure hope you last words were, "Ron, please use my death to push custard and promote your political supporters," because if not, you sure got screwed by your lifelong friend.

But, on the bright side, you join a long line of deceased people Ron and his cronies capitalize on for political gain. Think of all the fallen soldiers who got used by Curt and Matt when they carved out their poli-parade empire and holding their hands out for city cash. Think of the 3 murder victims (which include at least one kid murdered by a caregiver) in Ron's less-than-eloquent "three murders is three too many!" rant to justify nonsensically guaranteed jobs for the employees who just happen to support him and work his polls. His deceased brother (who I hear he wasn't even close to) became a rented table funded scholarship, which he uses to get in front of parents at honors nights, especially during election years. I don't think he even picks out the winners himself!

So you're in good company at least, buddy. If Heaven isn't really SCS like Ron claims, I hope you're there, and you're telling St. Peter all about Ron.

I can't believe people have sunk so low as to critisize Ron for memorializing a friend. Maybe if some of you losers ever HAD a friend, then you could recall fond memories riding bikes and eating ice cream.

So what if Ron mentions a certain ice cream shop? Is it not a new SCS business? Of coarse Ron mentions Police and Fire, what kind of city would we have without them? They should always be mentioned. They are the backbone of SCS.

Yeah they named a park after his father. So what! He was a great statesman. His son is following in his footsteps and deserves the job on council.

His friends death has nothing to do with any of that, and YOU are tasteless for even mentioning it!

Hi Ron! You are the one who brought up your dead friend. I agree that his passing has nothing to do with Police and Fire or Ice cream, but you started it. You could have wrote an article about new business in the city or the backbone of the city but you didn't. You wrote about your dead friend and spent most of the article plugging your still alive friend's business and propping up the cops. Shame most of the cops live outside the city and won't even see the article anyway.

I'm starting to get the picture. Are there any other council people that people in general have nothing good to say. I'm sure this guy may have done some good. I will watch more of the council and see who is good as I become aclamated to my new city.

Finished reading Ron's "story" a few minutes ago and I must say that something doesn't seem right. First off, this friend of his that died, why didn't he give Dave's last name? Certainly if he was that good a friend growing up he could of at least gave his last name too. Next, it seems rather odd timing for this story to get published. Why? Well, think about it. His friend Dave just happens to pass away when it's Ron's turn to write a story for the Insider. That is possible so I'll give Ron that. But how odd is it that Ron mentions riding to the Clark station with him to get air for their bike tires? Of all things from a childhood friendship to mention I thought. But then it all came together. It was the perfect lead in for the new custard store being built at that same location by his current best friend Matt. The same location that Ron started promoting at the previous council meeting (remember his comments about how great it was for Matt to put up the wall when he didn't have too). The rest of the article was about what I expected from Ron. Overall it was nicely written if you like "fiction". Come on Ron, you really don't think anybody believes your story about Dave do you? Perhaps next time you should start with "Once upon a time there was this guy named Matt and he was building a custard store".

Wally's can turn a tasty cone but there prices are already pretty cadillac compared to the other ice cream shacks round town. Money's on they'll go up to pay the paper on the new custard palace.

"21st century commitment to our way of life"?

WTH does this even mean?
It's been the 21st century for 12 years!
"Our way of life"? That sounds racist.

Ron has done some things which he does not directly benefit from. He does donate tables and chairs to events and I even watched him hump them back into the trailer in the dark once.

Check your facts again. I watched RON promote his table and chair BUSINESS to the parents at South Lake's honor night.

I am so glad Wallys is opening. There are not good enough ice cream places in and near SCS as it is, and the competition can't hurt. Be gratefull that Ron and the rest of CC did the right thing and soon we'll all be enjoying frozen custard in SCS!

i can walk out my front door and enjoy frozen custard in scs right now. cathys, cold cow, country dairy, stroahs, dairy queen, dairy boy, and ashbys all serve delicios ice cream and custard. not that ron will do anything to promote those places.

I wonder if Ron gave the eulogy and it was more like a 5 minute infomercial for Wallys?

Don't be afraid to voice your opinions today, even if you suspect that they aren't what everyone is expecting to hear. It's important to speak your mind, and there's no need to worry about treading on anyone's toes or sounding outrageous because that isn't very likely at all. If you're talking to someone, your conversation may take an unconventional turn that you weren't expecting.
