I would like to hear from anyone in St.Clair shores that has had a run in with Rats. What they think might be causing it around them and what street (no numbers please) they live on. I have been tracking rat sightings since the beginning of June 2009 and the results are scary. I know why they are here...I am looking for individuals and their experience with them in there neighborhood.
Thank You...

I have rats coming from the dump across the street from my house. They are living behind their garage among piles of junk. The neighbor on the other side of me has found two large rats dead on his driveway and one on his porch. My cat brought me two dead little rats a couple of months ago. It's been going on for at least four years. I live on 11 Mile, three streets from I94.

The rats are in eastpointe too. I live by civic center arena on the eastpointe side and they are definitely getting larger. I saw one the other night that I mistook for a opossum, and my neighbor found a few dead in his yard.

Thank you very much for your reply...do you mind if I cut and paste your info to my letter to the council? and if you could get more of your neighbors to get on topix and post to my reply THAT WOULD BE GREAT!

Thank you for your reply. If you have any friends that live in the SCS area please tell them about this site and get them to tell me anything they know. I also know that Harper Woods and Grosse Pte Woods is getting hit big as well. Good luck to you and keep checking back for any information from others that might help.

I live on the lake side of Jefferson between 10 1/2 and 11 Mile.

We have Rats... had them for a few years now. The exterminator said they were living in a large burrow in the seawall of the canal off of Ardmore. He said they chose the spot because the wall provides great structure for their burrow and is close (obviously) to a water supply.
He said he couldn't do anything about it because he was not authorized to do so but told me to contact city hall and report his findings.
I called city hall, told them exactly where the rats were living, explained why and who told me. Yep, you guessed it... they did nothing.
Recently, I have seen some red fox, which I am glad to see because they love to eat rats.

I figure Mother Nature decided to take care of the rat problem herself after two years of the City doing nothing about it. Knowing how things work around here, the City will probably get rid of the Fox... nice, huh?

My dog brought one to back door the other morning. I had to wrestle the damn thing out of his mouth. It was the size of a small cat. Vacant house (2+ years) two doors down. 10 Mile and Harper.

I don't mind at all. There may be a couple of people on council who will recognize my name. I received a code enforcement violation for having a bird bath .... code enforcement said it was a "haven" for rats.

Thank you so much for the information in regards to your residence near the water and the problems you are having. I have been interested in the information from home owners that live lake side and their point of view on the rat problem. I have been working on information from residence since June 2009. I have a work place that provides me with daily contact with scs residents and I will, if you will allow me, take your information with others to the city. Tell others about this site and my post to give me more info to take to the city. The more ammo the more impact. Thanks you again

This information from you all is sooooo great! I have such a huge information data base going to council. I will try my best to get this information dug into their heads, that I might just become a pain in the head and ass to them. But I am seriously trying to make a positive impact about this situation to the city. If any of you would like a copy of my letter to the council members please let me know rockymtnchild@gmail.com

I stop counting how many rats I have seen and my dog has killed this year. They are coming from the sewer drain in my neighbor's backyard mostly at night is when my dog seems to get them.

Add Middlesex between Marter Rd & Jefferson to the list.

What type of rats are you referring to getting rid of, the rodent type, or the political type. There is an abundance of political rats in this city, normally you don't have to set out bait boxes for them, they usually say the wrong thing and get caught all by their self. This is the real Jack Downey speaking.

Thank you for your information. May I use your information in my research? And I hope that none of the rats your dog has killed had eaten poison?:(

Feel free to take this info to the city. Ardmore and each street to the north and south on the East side of Jefferson.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Virgo

Someone is being headstrong and wilful, and absolutely determined to do what they want. Mercury is retrograde and it's a Full Moon in Cancer with a lunar eclipse all happening tonight! This could lead to some heated discussions and possibly even rows, as you argue the toss back and forth. It might be best to accept that there's very little possibility of reaching an agreement rather than to get locked in a stubborn battle of wills. Besides, you don't want anything to spoil what promises to be a very enjoyable New Year's Eve. Have fun!
