The city manager needs to look at the woman in charge of code enforcement . I was at a meeting last week and the CM attended the meeting , only to tell the volunteers not to say things that are offencive to his city employees. This was my first meeting , I had know idea what was going on ! One of the Volunteers asked if he could present his argument before the CM left for another meeting. The argument was about a house that was in violation , and nothing had been done about it for over 3 months, He had the address ,pictures ,and documentation. From what I could see , Sandy was caught in one lie after another. The people driving around and reporting violations in our city , are not payed and should be treated with respect.

I have had a few issues with the code enforcer over rat harbors and illegal structures being built that were destroying part of my property and never got a decent answer or a timely response. I actually learned to take my complaints to council members instead who seemed to be able to get more out of the Code Enforcement than any citizen could.

Having not been at the meeting you mentioned CM for what I can read is a Council Member and no name the only name you have given is Sandy. Why not mention the CM name and Sandy who?

Why not mention the CM name and Sandy who? City manager (CM) I believe Sandy is in charge of code enforcement , I'm not sure of the last name ? Like I said before , This was my first meeting ever ,and I was shocked by the way the volunteers were treated by the City Manager. There were no apologies after the CM had looked at the pictures and documentation ! I believe he was embarrassed afterwords , because all that was presented from the volunteers was very professional.( I thought) This was the first meeting our City Manager attended , and he stated that !

If the tax payers of this city , trust everything the city manager and the rest of the people are doing with our tax money , then I guess I am on my own ! Please don't complain about your tax bills ! If you get a letter in the mail because your property is in violation of the city ordinance ((which I doubt would happen)Don't worry about it, because I have seen write up's from 2 years ago that were closed , and the problems still exist !

Ignoring the the letter is great way to get out of it, or even better going in front of the council and lying. McFayden will never vote down anything that is already built and some of the others are too lazy to even take a look. It is time to take the city back and restore services to the citizens not cushy jobs to the employees.

The houses I had taken a look at were in violation with the rodent ordinances. I could have sworn SCS had payed a landscape company to fix this problem ! The problem I have is , what is a landscape company doing getting rid of rodents , why didn't SCS have the mail carriers do it ?

The mail carriers cannot even give out Christmas cards to their people without stamps on them. What do you think it would cost to mail rat poison. Then there is the fact they are handleing toxic material which needs a licensed person to do. and the list goes on.

Once again check your facts.

Go get the chair again , and stand on it , because things continue to go over your head ! All I'm saying is , if our city has a problem with rodents , then hire a company that specializes in rodent control not a landscape company . Landscape Co's = landscaping Mail carriers = delivering mail Pests control = eliminating rodents

I wouldn't even waste my time trying to get a point across to these dumb idiots. If they got hit in the head with a sledge hammer, you would have to tell them. I just seen the simp's of the century, on these two answers to your blogg.

The Sandy in question is Sandy Wolny, is Ted Wahby's daughter. She has no prior experience and should not be in her position. The only reason she has her job is because her daddy brokered the deal for Podolski and Dumas to get their current highly paid positions, again which neither had any prior experience. I agree MDN, if people are volunteering their time and energy to bring blight to the light of the CM, the least he can do is try to enforce the issue at hand. I have always believed that the CM is in way over his head. The only way I have ever been able to get anything done blight wise is complaining to a councilmember. The two who are most proactive are MM and KW. Please do not email King Bob with any complaint, you will never get a response! Keep up the good work MDN, your effort is appreciated from this Senator!

It would seem to me the city would use the winter time to catch up on things ! Out of 20 houses that were write up from (06 &07) only 8 of them complied . 12 of the houses had the same violations and out of the 12 a few of them had gotten worse . I am sorry ,I am sick and tired of a few people in this city taking advantage of the tax payers money only to make a monetary gain for themselves. Think about it: You are making over 70 K a year , and you get complaint after complaint on your total job performance. How long do you think a company will actually keep you as an employee ? Now if the city manager doesnt do his job , then I believe he should be the first to leave !!

Or are you pulling our legs again. You tend to get way off base with some of your replys. Why do you have a problem with LSI doing the baiting? I'm trying to understand your rational on various subject threads. I think that rodent program was definetly necessary to get the numbers and see where we stand. As city with a problem area, I can say they addressed the problem that other cities were behind in.

I notice that the city manager does not have a lot to say at coucil meetings and he may give report on PCBs when the mayor asks about it. Other than that he really doesn't give the viewers much in the way of information. But then again he covers city business on local maters show. I think that if a number of houses with blight are flagged and no action is being taken, then your point about his authority over his employee is a good one. The city pays Ms.Wolny a lot of money to head up a department. I hear from people she is not respectful nor polite to those who question her autority and sucess rate in regard to closure on violations. It is high time for Mr. Podolski to review some of pending issues and render his own opinion publicly so the taxpayers can see there is oversight in city goverment.

The reason this will continue to happen , is because most of us just don't care! And I think it is a crying shame ! I feel bad for the people who have worked for our city over 20 years , and have done an excellent job , and will never be able to better themselves, because of the so called machine !
