Maybe the whole country needs to stock up and shut down for a week , It will be tuff on a lot of people but they they got the gun to your head now . Like the founding fathers said "If we don't hang togeather we will hang seperately".

Now if the general public would join them and not drive those days, use the time to commute by other methods such as bicycle or car pool it might have a larger effect. What possible sense does it make to drive a urban land yacht suv with one person in it for a 5 mile drive to work?

something need to be done about these high fuel prices. im a trucker myself. we already have high taxes that we have to pay. do they not think thats enough! look at the prices we already pay for item in a truck stop compare to wal-mart or any other.restaurants inside cost up to a dollar or more than average. it seem as if we are out of more money than we bring in.

I hate to see a truckers strike, but I can certainly understand it. I have a good friend who is a trucker and times are rough right now. I hope something like this makes the statement they are wanting to make.
Good luck to you all!! |
It would be wonderful if the large companies shut down, but they won't. The reason being that our goverment gives them a rebate on the fuel used. I understand that they only pay $1.50 per gallon after Uncle Stupid gives them a check. If they gave you a rebate on the fuel you use, and it only cost you $1.50 a gallon for fuel, would you complain. I support the strike 100 per cent, and I really hope that something good will come out of it. I have some suggestions that might work, but it will take drivers with extreamly large gonads to make it work. I will save that for a later discussion. Lets try the shut down first, then go to more drastic muasures. To,the spelling and gramer polioce, Shove it!!! |
|
That would be great if the whole country would shutdown and protest the oil companies, government and the crooked politicians in BOTH parties gouging Americans while they laydown with terrorists and communists. |

A shut-down in the 1970s worked, the government came up with the fuel surcharge program, which still exists.
This is the "rebate" that John refers to above. For independent owner operators this is often not available, or isn't passed through fully by the leasor. At $4.00 per gallon diesel prices have reached the point of bankrupting the independents, who with a large monthly truck payment can neither afford to run or to shutdown. Been there, done that, know how it felt! |

I agree,we need to do something. It;s getting out of hand and squeezing the little guys dry.I would propose that instead of a strike, perhaps all of us could join the truckers and boycott one oil company at a time untill they have to lower prices to remain competitive. It's the only thing they understand.

The problem is, is that there are 19 people on here who agree but what about the millions in this world that need to do something. 19 people are not going to make a diffrence at all.

AMEN!!! While my husband isn't a truck driver he does work on the cranes and equipment that they haul. If they can't move the equipment then he doesn't work either. We recently purchased a motorcylce because of the price of diesel for his personal and service truck. This has to stop some where. We are behind you 100%. Thanks for all you do! |
