The city of St. Augustine promised $50,000 but will give the ship foundation an extra $50,000 for a total of $100,000. Then any money over $100,000 will go to the county. Let's be accurate about which group of taxpayers are footing this bill. The city of St. Augustine collects taxes and St. Johns county collects taxes. City tax payers paid for the dock/breakwater not county tax payers. Paying this foundation an extra $50,000 is wrong. Anything over what was promised belongs to taxpayers. Remember 40% of the property in the city limits do not pay property taxes.
