I must be missing something. Maybe it's just a "Unique Texas" thing, because what on earth are "underaged" minors doing out at 3:50AM????? 3:50AM!!!!! What in God's went wrong? Hmmm. Nobody ever questions the "wrongs" that anybody does, it's always, "Oh, they were great, and blah...blah...blah..." Funny thing, they were partying off their arses and driving wrecklessly and guess what folks? That's what got'em killed. Deader than a popcorn fart. So, where were mom & dad? Sleeping while jr.'s out in wee-hours of the morn? Evidently you just didn't give a damn to CARE ENOUGH. And to the rest of you that call yourselves parents, Do you know where your kids are...right now? If you do, and keep in touch with your kids, terrific & give yourselves a pat on the back. To the rest of you that have NO CLUE, shame on you. You will probably be the ones that bury their kids. A vigil? For what? That it's ok to go out and drink & drive and get yourself killed and other's maimed and also killed? This is exactly what is wrong with this country. Parents and elders who don't give a damn what kids are up to. Try giving a damn. You'd be suprised at how far it'll carry. Tell your kids not only NO, but HELL NO. When they reach adulthood, by all means they can do what they think is best. You pray you gave them the knowledge and foresight to do what's right. But until then, You Be The Parents. From now until eternity, you should be questioning yourselves..."What could we have done better, more thorough, etc., so that our son wouldn't have gotten into this. You'd be suprised. From a father who lost it all. May God oversee your faults, forgive you your sins and have mercy on you. May he grant your son eternal peace.

Yes, parents should be aware of what their children are up to, this is true.... However, we cannot watch and know what our children are doing at every moment of the day and night.... Kids will be kids, kids will sneak around and do things that they have been told time and time again not to do... curiousity... we have all done things that we know we shouldn't, yes... i'm sure, you included.. We all hope that what we teach our children will stick in their minds at all times and that they will learn from mistakes that we have made in the past, but guess what... not likely... You show me ONE perfect child out there...There aren't any, are there? Yes, there are parents that need to pay closer attention, this is not meant towards the parents of this child, I don't know them...However, you seem to group all parents that have a tragedy such as this in one group,(un-fit). Shame on you! Unless you know these people personally, which I highly doubt, you have no idea how this child was raised. So, shame on you for just assuming that because of this tragedy, the parents are basically at fault. Obviously you have had a tragedy in your life that you feel responsible for because you seem to have alot of built up anger and seem to point alot of fingers at parents.... See, I have read several postings from you! It's sad to me really, that anyone carries around so much guilt and also anger towards others. God will see you through whatever loss you have suffered, but you have to allow him to do so, God forgives and this is what he expects from us.... FORGIVENESS.
