I'm not sure how it all works but, if they are a volunteer department like Pelican Bay, why would they think that we had money? Doesn't volunteer mean no money? Just checking.

Post #41 is not from the same anybody in post#40 and previous posts. But i do know why Briar's tanker was removed. It was sent to an area where the county thought it would be better used, because they said there were more structure fires and fires in general there. I have also heard that Brair has had thier engine reposed, but I can not confirm this.
Also my city has been changed along with others it seems.

You are right concerned citizen. There is a small amount of funding available for covering certain districts, so by increasing their district, it may also increase county funding. However, it would also increase their costs, so it is not "money to be made" as some people think. Volunteer is just that and they exist mainly thru donations and fund raising. Few are allotted the budget that ours was under the previous regime. Especially with nothing to show for it. I know when I was on PB VFD, we existed almost solely on fundraisers. Any money allowed in the budget went almost exclusively on the fire truck payment. We worked almost every weekend on boot drives etc. Our haunted house was a big fundraiser for the year. And we still found time to do charitable things for others. Like Santa at Christmas. Just sayin.

Briar would not get any additional funding from the county, because Pelican Bay does not cover any county area. However, Pelican Bay does get county funding for running mutual aid calls in the county. I believe it is a yearly payment of about $6500.

AMEN to that all funds were raised by the members who not only donated thier time and lives But had o genuine concern for all its residents. Take a look at who responds to the calls in the bay. Do you ever see Pelican Bay? We used to see them drill Attend council meetings and be active in the community. Who IS ON THE FIRE DEPT NOW ?

Guess you would know but which one are you, the lowlife or the druggie? I think your the laughing stock of the criminals cause you can't seem to cipher the word law inforcement you mental giant.
Bring your college degree and I'll bring you mine. There are people here in the "bay" that might be more educated than you are. Just to bring it to your education... it is law "enforcement" not inforcement, lowlife or druggie? You failed on your spelling and it took a Pelican Bay resident to correct you. Go back to school or shut the hell up.

Anybody, from what I've been told as of the 2010-2011 fiscal year the County ESD started paying all fire departments $ 9,500 yearly per mutual aid contract with other fire departments that has fire area in Tarrant County. The 2009-2010 fiscal year and previous years it was $ 7,500 per mutual aid contract.

Buzz, What is your point? According to council members, Pelican Bay does not get any county funding now.

HOW DARE YOU SAY that about Chief Stetzel?? YOU wouldn't have what you do if it wasn't for HIM!! You would still be using OLD, worn out bunker gear, using old equipment, NO brush truck, a safer (well as safe as can be) building!!
Don't know IF you were involved w/the dept about 5 years ago?? What a hell hole and disgusting people who "worked" there. Money, equipment, papers, everything was being stolen faster than it could get in the door!!
Stetzel DID a wonderful job as PBVFR chief. But just like anyone else who has tried to improve ANYTHING for the city, You can only be beat down so far before you say ENOUGH!!!!!
BUT don't worry your little heads off, Chief REED will SOON take over, THEN you'll see STRICT codes and most of you volunteers WILL BE GONE!!!
I tell u now if a briar or reef steps on my property or near my kids I will press charges they run people off road have no rules and thank god my uncle is a retired police chief they won't be around long also why would you want them they walked an left city high and dry

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Capricorn

If you're feeling lonely and vulnerable, it seems as though someone is out to get you. Perhaps you're separated from the people you love and you don't like it. Try not to mope for too long, because there are important things that need your attention. Speaking of which, if you need to do something that you're dreading, you'll feel much better if you can get it out of the way quickly. If you leave it, the very thought of it will drain your energy.
