no they just need to punish the people that break the laws and make it more than just a hand slap. put them in jail for 5 years if they break this law no time off for good behaveor it is a 5 year sentence...no one is held accountable for there actions any more.

If anyone has any updates other than what's on this report, PLEASE post. My son goes to Springtown Elem and I don't have access to a TV at work. Thanks!

Can you not call your son's school and find out, or check their website?

It would probably to have the suspect's name so people would be on the lookout for him. Knowledge is power. Media seems to be just interested in numbers again, not caring to actually SERVE the public with useful information.

Nothing on the website but I finally did get thru to the school. They are no longer on lockdown so I'm hoping that means they have this guy in custody.

Heard it was an altercation between a husband and wife. He pulled a gun on her and she called the police...he ran by the school with the gun, that is why they are/were saying he was on the school grounds.

Sorry for the typo, as I meant to express my disappoint in the media for not releasing his name and possibly the circumstances.

Armed criminals and hotheads are everywhere. It is almost routine for cops to go chasing a suspect through a school's property, or even inside a poorly secured school. In the Dallas metroplex it is all too common. Even students are armed.

Perhaps, as is often the case when you jump the gun, they don't HAVE his name yet. If he's not even been caught, it's kinda hard to have a name for him. Ya know?

Apparently they knew his name and the situation, just didn't release the name. Usually when the cops arrive, they ask the wife her name, the husband's name and there you go...

Even if that's the case, it doesn't mean that his name has been released to the media. Also, this is a "breaking news" item. The purpose of breaking news is to get what you have out as soon as you get it.

Either way, you still have to be patient for the rest. As small an item as this story is, they got the main details: armed man, schools locked down, cops searching.

The rest will come later. Better to get out what they did than to sit on the whole story while they check on the guy's name.

I am sure the ploice was not very far away from this issue. I know they will do their best to handle the problem. I believe they should never let him go.

The part I don't understand is that if the school was on lockdown, why is it that the parents don't find out about this until the night of in a letter? Shouldn't the school notify parents of such an issue while it is going on?

Not unless there is a specific threat on the school. To do otherwise would incite panicked parents to try and reach their kids only to be held back, as has happened in the past.

Like it was posted MANY places...it was an argument between 2 parents...and the guy took off while the mother called the cops. The police department is literally 2 blocks from the school where this happened. As far as the schools in Springtown not being properly secured...WHY IN THE HELL DO YOU THINK THEY PUT THEM ON LOCKDOWN? To secure the school. Springtown is NOT a part of the Dallas Metroplex, this sort of thing does NOT happen all the time! I can assure you...there are more guns floating around in Springtown in the hands of responsible users...than there are in Dallas (which is almost 2 hours east of us). That being said...anyone stupid enough to try to take a school or make a threat on a school in Springtown, should expect to be picked off randomly by any passing "Good Ole Boy" who would happen to be out looking for him to assist the police...should there have been a manhunt.(You see...people in the country still look out for each other...something that city dwellers are not meant to understand...this is why many of us live in the country). So before you go around spouting off about how can we not take car of our kids out in good old Springtown, maybe you should take a drive through our town sometime...stop by the cafe...talk to the people there...this isn't now, nor will it ever be...Dallas TX...Our kids are safe...and the school did EXACTLY what it should have done by locking down all campus' when there was a "impending threat" Even when it was not a DIRECT threat to a school. As far as I know now the guy has not been found...but I'm certain that he will be soon enough. As for me, I will not start to lock my doors at night over this incident...nor will I worry about the safety of my children while they are in the hands of the very capable faculties and staff in Springtown Schools. Domestic violence is a terrible thing...which is what this was...I feel for the woman and her children who were affected by this situation...but I feel that the media had a complete circus with this and made it out to be much more than it actually was.
