Peter Shumlin: "I'm a realist" - The Manchester Journal

Full story: The Manchester Journal

A year ago at this time, perhaps the worst kept secret in Montpelier was whether or not the 54 year-old Peter Shumlin, would run for governor.

He thinks he is a realist. I'm willing to give him that. What this exposes however is his vision of reality which is very peculiar. Sorry Peter you have taken too many unusual and unsupportable positions to get anyone to agree with your vision of reality.

Your vision of reality was that Act 60 was a good thing for education spending and the result was education spending state wide which was 8 times the rate of inflation.

Your vision of reality was that the governor's veto of the budget because we were headed for a deficit was a bad thing so you led a veto override and the result was a $150 million dollar deficit.

Your vision of reality is that VY is unsafe even though the NRC which is in charge of it's safety review has given it high marks for decades and hasn't even completed it's analysis for relicensing. Your vision of reality is that you know better than the NRC. That is peculiar.

Your vision of reality is that you can replace the VY jobs which will generate $2 billion in personal income over the next 20 years with green jobs when the technology and the economic feasibility of wind and solar is a fantasy right now. Very peculiar.

Your vision of reality is that you can say anything you want and get away with it. Now that might be true since Obama does it. But I think that is peculiar too.

A realist? Surely you jest. He's a millionaire - what does he know about VT's real issues? Spare me.

"MOOCHER" can be explained with one word DEMOCRATS. Look at what they have done. AT all levels Clinton SIGNED NAFTA. Forbes magazine said we are # 1 for taxes on individual. Rated 47 for business friendly. So need most aid as we have become poor. But at least we have ski industry fishing moose fest plate fest. WHO NEEDS GOOD YEAR ROUND JOBS.
