Despite the Bf bashing that goes on here, the druggies seem to be from elsewhere for the most part. This was a loooong investigation...if BF was the epicenter of drug activity, this bust would have revealed that. The other towns have got the hardcore stuff and the hardcore dealers.

if you actually think that there isnt a HUGE hard drug scene in Bellows Falls, then you are living under a rock. plain and simple.

So maybe its the innability for the BF police to identify who are the big player dealers in the town, since they only arrest small time dime bag dealers.

I thank the Police for doing a good job. We are all idiots if we don't think this is every where. This drug problem is in every community.

Some just do a better job at hiding it.I do understand some of your frustration, it seems like it takes for ever to make any arrest.

What is sad is the young ages of some of these offenders. Two of the BF kids were great athletes at one time and came from good hard working families.

It just goes to show it doesn't matter how well you teach them ,they are there own person after age 18.

We should be doing more to shut down the borders and getting the Illegals out . This would put a huge dent in the drug trade.

I agree. Job well done. Just wait and see. Some smaller agencies can not do this alone and when the gang gets together....good things happen. Well done officers!

I'm a relative of one of these low lifes; not happy to admit it but this relative has young kids. I feel bad for the kids but I'm so glad the force finally caught up to her. Great job to all those involved with the bust!

Remember when we use to pay the newspapers to raise the roof...we paid them to piss us off. Now we got this objective and factual and evidence press...whose job is to make us feel good. What do you think it is, I bet you it would be more expensive and require a higher skill lever. Do we pay the paper to tell just the facts...or should we pay them to paint a picture that challenges are way we see events in our life.

It is all the newspapers in Vermont, I guess they are struggling to survive...but they all giving us this touristy view of events around us, afraid to lose one more subscription or advertisement revenue because they pissed off somebody. I suppose they are afraid of frightening off these southern tourist and the second home industry.

I thought the role of the newspapers was to fearlessly tear and ripped us apart, tear us down, clear out the weeds and the debris of our reckless and destructive lives...to make way for the green shoots of our lives.

I just can’t understand why the newspapers doesn’t write a exposé about the seedy under-life of Brattleboro. This is going in all the cities and towns of the state. What do we say about these touristy newspapers.

What is it about us that make the papers write about the touristy side of life...they must know that is what we want. Yep, we are all trying to excape this world

We are a nation of excapers!

Vermont police make coordinated arrests
By PHILLIP BANTZ

A drug sweep along the Interstate 91 corridor Thursday in southern Vermont netted two-dozen low-level dealers, some of whom have ties to street gangs, police said.

The arrests came after about a year and a half of investigative work under “Operation Connecticut Valley,” which involved members of the Vermont Drug Task Force going after people selling crack cocaine, heroin, marijuana and other drugs.

“The narcotics unit did all the actual cases and the buys, but when it came to making the arrests, we put out calls to everyone off I-91 from Brattleboro to White River Junction,” said Vermont State Police Detective Sgt. John Merrigan, an agent with the task force.

When it was time to descend on the suspected dealers, the task force had assistance from police agencies in Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Chester, Hartford, Springfield, Wilmington and sheriff’s departments in Windham and Windsor Counties.

Local police involvement allowed the task force to cast a wide net and make most of the arrests during a tight deadline, Merrigan said.

“Trying to arrest everyone in one day is a tall order,” he said,“but if you don’t do it all at once, people get wind of the arrests and they go underground or leave town and you can’t find them.”

Police are still searching for five alleged dealers who avoided the sweep:

its innocent until proven guilty, people. let's just see how many of these charges stick. from what i've gathered about the "investigations" that took place, i'll bet most of the people listed here walk away because there's no real evidence to support the charges.

and miss craven, you're an idiot for dragging your trash into a public forum. keep in in the trailer park.

LOL!!! I dont care what you think! I didnt bring any "trash" into anything until SHE called and threatend me thank you! All I did was comment on a PUBILC issue that was in the paper. I will not let someone threaten to kill me and not make everyone aware of it!! This way if it happens they know who did it!
