IT IS A VERY SAD THING AND VERY SCARY FOR THE FOSTER CHILDREN THINKING THEY ARE GOING INTO A SAFE HOME.

Hi,
Hopefully you see this reply, I'm not sure if it's going to work or not.
I was sent into foster care when I was 8 yrs old, and the Taplin's is where I went to first. I stayed with them for over 2 years.(I am now 23) Although I am not very surprised with what he has done, it is still quite shocking and mind-jolting.
When I lived there, there was a girl who came to stay, about 16 yrs old, and she left, accusing Frank of this same exact type of thing. I also know of another girl who claimed the same thing, I'm sure the list goes on.
What I wonder is, Frank and his wife have been doing foster care since their early twenties, Frank is now 58, that's roughly 35 yrs of MANY foster children.(There were always and still are always many children in that home. I think currently there's 11. It was always crowded with foster kids). How many children do you think went through this at that home? They've had hundreds of children, if not more... I don't think Frank woke up one day recently and said "I think I'll become a child molester today" - it HAD to have been years in the making. He just finally got caught. And what worries me even more, is that his wife had to have known something. I mean, come on, 40 yrs of marriage and not a single clue? I don't think so...
There's a lot more I could say about my personal experience knowing Frank when I was in their care, but I'd prefer to see other children previously in their care stand up and tell authorities what he did to them. I guarantee, there are a lot more.

Innocent until PROVEN guilty? I have no bias towards the accused, but please have the common decency to assume innocence unless you know otherwise.

The second comment is totally without basis. The so-called facts are not even close to reality. My thoughts to montpelier - do not make up false allegations. Let the judicial system solve this -

Obviously you were never in the Taplin's care; you are probably a family member or long time friend, defending him to the ground. If you're going to be rude and tell me my facts are not FACTS, then go somewhere else and spread your nastiness. I never made any false allegations, I was simply stating what I had experienced in the Taplins' care, my opinions, and what seems only logical. The judicial system WILL solve this. This website isn't a place for anyone to decide what the hell is going on here. Next time, read through the entire comment. Maybe you'll get a better understanding of what an opinion is, versus a fact.
Wait until he goes to court, and wait and see how many other foster children come forward - or maybe even any one of his adopted children. My OPINION is that it will astound you, shock the community, and overall give foster homes a bad name. It is my rightful OPINION, that Frank Taplin is guilty beyond belief.

Abby Ella - you are incredibly blind and you need to stop sending me anonymous Emails before I sue you for harassment. Get a life.

Montpelier, I back you up fully. I know completely of another girl who suffered the same thing several year ago as she was relocated to my family for her next home. Don't let these other people give you a hard time. We are all free to our own opinions.

I heard the rumor that Frank killed himself. Is it really true?

Just to let you all know... He was being acquitted of all charges on this matter. Prosecuting attorney's kept harassing his family after recalling ALL of the foster kids that have gone through his care and could find no truth to any of these accusations...
It's people like some of you, that are so quick to judge, and assume that you know the WHOLE story that can tare a man and his family down so much that it pushes someone to do the un-thinkable...
Frank was a good, and honorable man. This is what he gets for helping children who had nobody else? All because 1 devious little girl who was pissed off that he wouldn't let her have a friend over decides to "get even" by accusing him of molestation... Even her little sister who also lived in the house said she was lying. WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO??

This is absolutely untrue--he was actually about to be charged with other crime(s), not sexual, and he took the cowardly and selfish way out by killing himself rather than face what he has done to his family and community. Although he did do many good deeds over the years, his actions recently show that he was not the saint that people believed. We should all spend our time praying that his family can recover and heal from the damage he caused.

I am absolutely sick to my stomach after reading some of the posts above... All sexual assault charges were dropped, and yet people still doubt Frank... Like you said, he had hundreds of of children come through his doors, including some with huge disabilities, and he gave them a home, and love... How can you say he is selfish by committing suicide when it's people like you who drove him to it? He had his entire life taken away by people like you, he had nothing more to live for. Imagine how that feels...

Just to clarify, I did not mean I heard he had sexually molested the child, I have no idea if he did or did not. I was referring to the question of suicide when I said I heard he had.

The only people who will ever no for sure are him and her. I don't know how any of you can say that you are absolutely sure about any of it unless you were a victim, then of course, you would know at least about yourself. Just because someone is aquitted doesn't mean he didn't do it and just because he was accused doesn't mean he did. Also, just because he killed himself doesn't mean he did it either. Unless you are an actual victim, or him, you will never know.

You're obviously not THAT well informed. He was never acquitted! He was about to see a jury in April regarding these charges. And what makes you think "they" contacted all of his former foster children? That's funny, I don't remember getting that phone call!
Take it for what it is: he's guilty. What kind of a "man" kills himself if he's not guilty? He's a guilty coward. Plain and simple. Get yourself out of denial and realize the facts.

Imagine how those children felt! Perfect job for a child molester, if you ask me. And don't you dare say people "drove him to do it." Each person is responsible for himself. He took the cowardly route by killing himself, rather than facing a jury, a community of people who trusted him, his family, everyone. The sexual charges were never dropped. You're a disgusted college student? Well I'm disgusted with people like you - who can't possibly see past their own stupidity and naivete. But hey, hats off to you for finding a way to deal with his suicide. Maybe someday you'll learn the truth.
