Anyhone who goes to any question and answer forum with these two candidates should remember to ask them if they like Vermont. One of these candidates has been known to criticize Vermont as boring and a place where she was forced to live but didn't want to live. It would be interesting to ask the question and see if the response can be decifered as pure political BS or has there really been a change of heart.

According to this article, Valerie Stuart: "has more than three decades experience working in both the nonprofit and private sectors in New York City". And she's: "been in public service here in Vermont for over 16 years." I've met Val. Barring fantastic surgical proceedures, there's no way she's old enough to have 46 years [professional] experience.
Is it the report(er), or Val, or both who are misleading us? Could it be that the article is skewed? These are questions worth asking before casting your ballot.

Valerie's hubby, attorney John Maibe, has kept the NYC gal floating for years.
She is really not a bad person, she has a good heart. But her manner unfortunately is mired in that extreme artificiality of the NYC types that only lives to climb the "ladder".

I don't know either candidate very well but I did hear good things about Valerie through her work for the Stroll. I've met her once or twice and she was nice and seemed intelligent.
And to clarify, I read the article as the 3 decades refers to overall experience and and that she has worked in the public sector as well as "the private sector in New York."

I feel there are better questions to be asked of these two capable women. I think that regardless of where we live, we can all probably find cons and pros about our neighborhood. I don't know Lorri Cartwright, but I know Val Stuart. I think that she has a real love for this state, as evidenced by her years of working as a volunteer. She and her husband made a conscious decision to move here to raise their two children in this state and seem to be doing their part to be active in the community.

Diane, you should be the one running...you are dynamite and can run circles around almost everyone up in Montpelier and won't let ideological philosphy get in your way of doing what's right for Vermont.
Plus they'll let you sing the Star Spangled Banner to open the session.
