They should tear down the exsisting building ASAP. Then buld a new school.

they can't tear down the school, we wouldn't have anywhere to go. All of the other schools in our county are packed full of kids. Even brand new South County is over flowing. We just need a massive rebuild job, but WSHS isn't on the rennovation list until 2020.

I am absolutely outraged that our 60/70-something year old filthy, disgusting school is not on the list, nonetheless, at the TOP of the list, to be renovated. Our school is honestly itself a safety hazard. It's so bad that most of the time I try to hold my bladder to avoid using the repulsive restrooms.
Not only is our school old, dirty, and smelly, it contains around 1200 students PLUS faculty and staff. Our halls and classrooms are much too small. There is no way of navigating through the halls without having to either push people or walk very slowly and wait to be pushed. Overall, our school NEEDS a renovation NOW !!!

By the time our school finally gets fixed up we'll all be graduated. It's sad to think that our school is only getting the attention of media but not the school board. We need these renovations NOW!!!

I go to WSHS, and those sports lobby lobby bathrooms that they were talking about were truly horrendous. You go anywhere near them and the stench was unbearable, noone used them anymore.

If you want to find out where the money went that should have been used on the school building, check out what the county pays for each new boat for the crew teams. Also check out the salary paid to a specialist who does eye exercises with one special needs preschooler. This is not responsible prioritizing of budgeted money. Before looking for more money be realistic about spending what is available!

It is unacceptable that we can spend close to a million dollars on astro turf fields (per field) but we can't fix the school. Isn't the education more important than one sports field? We pay enough taxes in a county which supposedly has one of the best school systems but our kids are taking classes in hallways and duck tape is a staple product in repairs? Unbelievable.

Too bad my kids cant go to LBSS since it has been remodeled and is now under capacity. They where trying to move some boundries not too long ago but all the WS parents fought it, so live with the decision and wait for the county to have the money to pay for it, or hope for a fire, that may preempt the remodel.

Great thinking. You win the "dumbest post of the month" award. 2000 students sitting around for two years while they build the new school. You might want to think before you post.

Peggy-sounds like our old school really needs some help! I thought it was outdated when we graduated in '84.

Before you post, please know the facts. Fxx County DOES NOT PAY for crew "boats" Crew is not a Varsity sport so the SHELLS are purchased by the teams via dues and fundraising.

Well gosh too bad. In a public school we have school sponsored team sports that only those with enough money to pay dues can particpate in. What about those who cannot afford dues. SHAME Besides I truly doubt that this is self-supporting.

Oh, and by the way, how did ONE high school manage to raise 15k-25k+ for ONE shell (also I do know the lingo, but chose not to use, it since some people are not "in" on it.

Yeah, our school is DEFINITELY not up to standards. There's mold, leaks, mice, and more. I come home every week with a sore throat from inhaling the mold on the air conditioner in my math room.
Renovate please?

This is really Ridiculous
i mean, its cool that you all want to voice your oppinion, but i really dont think its necessary to get all mad on what other people think.
yes our school is a dump, and it definantly needs remodeling and alot of fixing. also yes, our county should distribute its money alot more wisely. But, some of the problems in are school are also caused by students vandelising and breaking school equiptment and property. everything we have here would last so much longer if people would stop being careless.

although we just recently got a bathroom remodled which is very nice and i cant complain much.

so even though we are on the list and have to wait like.. 10 more years, there are probably a few more schools out there that are sooo much worse than ours.

I currently go to this school and I like the school and everything but the building is just plain bad. There are actually 2,200 students so its more croweded than you think. My math classroom has no windows to the outside but two to another classroom as well as two doors to other classrooms. Two of my classes are hels in trailers one of which is my health class where I have to sit right in front of old heaters that have sharp and hot metal ridges and electrical wires sticking out of it. I have also heard that our school is filled with asbestos.

The best thing we can do is to show up and support WSHS at the town hall meeting on May 6. Let the county know WSHS CAN"T wait for renovations. Something needs to be done sooner rather than later. The more numbers there are at the meeting the louder our voices will be. They are giving us a forum to lodge our complaints...LETS MAKE A STAND!!!

I know the infrastructure is in serious need of renovation, but I love WSHS and what it has done for my son, who will be graduating on June 16. The faculty and staff are absolutely the BEST, and deserve a building that merits their expertise. WSHS was overlooked for years, and it's now time for the County to do something about it. The only way to get that done is to show up on May 6, and let the School Board and our elected officials know that WE CARE ABOUT OUR SCHOOL!
