Anyone know what happened on Old Keene Mill Rd. between Bauer and Hillside last night? Much equipment on scene and westbound side closed.
Also wondering

I'm wondering, too. I know that someone was airlifted out, because I saw the ambulance pull up to a chopper waiting in the WSHS parking lot.

I cant say what happened because i wasn't there, but i did see the blue truck that crashed later around 12 am. What I saw was horrible; the truck was on its side and wrapped around a telephone poll. the part that hit the worst was the cab. Honestly, I dont see how some one could live through this.

We were there and I posted a "long" comment of what we saw, etc. I guess because I got a phone call in the middle of typing, it did not go through. I will see if this posts and will try later tonight to do it again.

I'm very curious as to what happened to the driver, as my coworker was the first person to stop and call 911 (she saw the whole thing play out) anyone know where a report can be found about this? she wants to know if the guy lived...

We ended up going out of town, so here is what we saw and "heard". I think I'll just "continue" if my phone rings this time and not chance losing it. We were coming from Kings Park on Rolling Rd, when we passed WSHS we saw a police car pull out with lights on and saw the chopper waiting there. We turned right on Bauer Ave. and when we got to OKM, we went straight across (which becomes Greeley, I never knew that). We parked there and a resident was standing in her driveway and we asked her when it happened, she said 8:30-8:45. It was now near 9:30. She had a huge flashlight and I noticed all the houses were dark. We started to walk down to OKM and another woman was behind us and said ?they haven't gotten him out yet?, he's alive, he was talking before help came". And I heard someone say he was 19, but my husband said he did not. As we were walking, I was thinking about all that woman said. We got to OKM and they had spotlights on a mid-size pick-up, up a hillside. There were so many rescue vehicles of every kind, with all te flashing lights. We stayed on the gravel side of OKM and were looking across and diagonal. The pick-up was facing Hillside and was resting on a Vepco pole, with the drivers door pinned. All 4 wheels appeared to be touching the ground, the pitch of the truck was very steep. There must be a ravine between OKM and this hill, because they put a ladder or something across it to help them. They also attached yellow cables to help fire and rescue pull themselves up. The jaws-of-life had already been used on the truck cab and the windshield was rolled back. 2 Vepco trucks were there, and they would walk down and put large flashlight beams on the transformer of this pole and then walk away. At one time, we counted 7 fire/res. men in the back of the truck and remember how it was pitched to the drivers door. We could not tell what they were doing, but knew they could not free this person. We moved down OKM a little, and sometime after 10, a FFX Cty PO (we know) saw us and came over and said he had just arrived on scene, but they didn't know if the passenger would make it and he explained how the truck went up the hill and slid down to rest on this pole. Mostly the fire/res. struggled up the hill past the back of the truck and got in the truck bed on passenger side. The truck did not wobble, that is why we "think" 4 wheels were touching or else it was jammed against the pole so much, it couldn't wobble. Men would come down and be replaced, while the first ones were checked out with the Canteen people. Then 2 people appeared that were dressed entirley differently. Fire/res. had the helmuts and tan pants with suspenders, these were in dark blue jumpsuits and I think they may have been from the chopper. One female and male. They got up the hill and the male looked like he had a stethoscope around his neck. Maybe someone knows if that would be so. Those 2 were up there for quite a while also. We moved further down and now were looking between 2 rescue squads and we were directly across from the pole. "more"

okay, that worked.... There was quite a crowd standing with us now. In front of the utility pole, I could see the crumpled windshield and something was on it and looked to me like a hand and part of a wrist and it flopped up and down. I asked my husband if he saw that, and he said it was a branch and then it flopped up and down again and he saw it too. I saw more fire and res. guys with saws trying to get across the ravine. I have heard what they say happens to free people trapped in earthquakes, but they were working on the bottom part of the truck, near where the driver door would be hinged. Then there was a flurry of activity, EMT's came to the rescue squad where we were standing and put things in, a PO was telling our crowd to move off OKM because they would be bringing him down and would be taking off. My husband saw them pull him out, I did not, he said a bunch of men grabbed him and pulled. I saw him on a board, being held parallel to the truck bed on pass. side, still having something done to him. They put a ladder on the ground at the back of the truck and my husband said they handed the board down to different fire/res. The stretcher was brought across to the back of the res. squad where we were standing and his eyes were closed. No visible injury to me. They put him in and went. Then right in front of us a man with the word "Chaplain" on the back. So maybe there had been a doubt. That was like 5 minutes to 11. The next day, we heard from our PO friend and he said, he had lived and would face charges because of his age. I searched the FFX Cty police website and the fire and rescue site and all the papers I could think of. I have never seen mention of it. There was a photographer there taking lots of pics, that I have seen before. But never saw anything. If you come from Huntsman, after you pass Hillside, look across street and the pole with the gray transformer, is where it happened. Turning right from Bauer, it is almost right there on right of OKM, going towards Burke. Looking at how the pole comes out of ground, it is so close down to OKM, it sure seemed like it was higher up, but I guess because they had to go up to passenger side. I don't know if there were any other vehicles involved. We did not see anything but tons of rescue vehicles. Hope this helps. I don't understand why it was never and is not mentioned in "police logs", etc.
