ABC Kiddie College is a great center if you are Korean. We placed our child there with great expectations as they were a new school, with very few students. We were told that it was a Christian school and everything our daughter did in the day (lesson, craft, story, etc) would relate to the specific bible theme they were learning. This happened for the first month and then that went out the window.
The school is run by Light Global Mission Church (a Korean church) but to look at their brouchures and signs, they only show American children, making one think that they are trying to attract a diverse group of students.
They certainly have a diverse group of students, but the Korean families are given preferential treatment. When ever a Korean parent complains about a policy, it is changed on the spot and the rest of the parents have to keep up with the almost daily changes.
The classes are overcrowded and do not follow county guidlines to 1 teacher to 10 students.
Staff turnover is high because the teachers are not happy with what appears to me to be racism. An African American teacher was fired for "not being friendly" when the only parent that had a problem with her was the owner's cousin. A Latino teacher was harrassed about her mannerisms until she quit.
We were given many promises and feel let down. Our daughter doesn't even like going to school anymore.

I too have had a disappointing experience at this childcare facility.Firstly the school is poorly supplied not allowing teachers to provide efficient creative projects for their students art projects. The teachers are forced on Fridays to shut down their rooms so that the Korean Sunday school staff and students wont feel offended by the ABC kiddie colleges posted art, toys, labeled chairs, etc..There are no bathrooms in the classrooms so your child is unfortunately left to their own accord to walk, use and return from the bathroom unsupervised. The Korean staff speak to other Korean children in their language excluding the other children from their conversations.
When seeking a loving, educational and nurturing environment; I would invest my time in a school that appreciates their staff EQUALLY...for without the staff being completely respected, well supplied and appreciated....the quality of care goes down and you are going to see lack of enthusiasm leading to turnovers. Which ultimately affects your child who has formed a routine and bond with their teacher. That is not the environment you want your child around.
Lastly although you are made to believe that this facility is a learning environment; it is but only a babysitting service. Without the right type of supplies and treatment how else can these teachers provide?
In ending, one thing that left me mostly unhappy was that there is no type of representation of GOD in this place. Although advertised and funded by a church there are no portraits, scriptures, Lent colors, etc.. I do believe that a church should have some sort of symbolism to allow outsiders, newcomers, etc... to be able to appreciate a holy image or figure. Think of all these things before considering where you want your child's religious and educational needs to thrive.

Is this school/daycare licensed? If so you can report them to social service. Here is a site of licensed daycares and any violations they might have - http://www.dss.state.va.us/facility/search/li...

Because this school is religious exempt, there are limitations to what can be done. Unfortunately they are able to set their own standdards under religious protection. The is no academic studying going on. Certain teachers of the same ethnic backgroud are allowed priveleges, such as being allowed to stay on their cellphones, leave classrooms unattended, allow children to color and play all day.
If you are looking for a babysitting service then this is your place.

Was the director Korean? You said the owner's cousin. It sounds like a private maney making business.

No the director was African American. She quit due to the racist remarks and unprofessionalism of the school. The purpose of this school is help pay for the expenses of the church. If you read what is on their website it is a bunch of lies. There is no Christian teaching going on. They do not have any type of curriculum books. They make alot of empty promises.

My daughter loves going to school now. The teachers are very loving and kind. My daughter is only 3 and she knows the Pledge of Allegiance and the Lord's Prayer already. My friends just couldnt believe she was memorizing all that.

I had a tour today at ABC Kiddie College and never saw a daycare this clean and organized. I heard bad things about few years ago but now they have new teachers (African American as well, Brazilian, and American, just to tell that they are not racist) and new director. They are extending the infants room downstairs and its seemed to be very high-end daycare. Today was the first day of school so it looked a little crazy with crying toddlers but the teacher knew how to handle them. I really liked it! It is a little pricey but I think its worth it.

We have had a wonderful experience at this childcare center in the 0-3 year room downstairs. I adore all of the staff members and we have been treated kindly and lovingly. I have never witnessed any issues and all children are welcomed and greeted equally. I have been impressed at the number of craft projects the children have done, and the emphasis on working on letters, even for this young group! I agree that it is clean, bright and organized. My daughter loves it, and does not even look over her shoulder to wave goodbye to me as she runs in to play!

While we've only used this daycare since late 2011, it has exceeded our expectations. The teacher in my child's class is a Brazilian lady and she is great! The school is clean and well run. Yes, most but not all students are Korean. I found the student to staff ratio averages 7:1 in my child's class. Was hoping for more outside time; our last daycare had two 1-hr playground breaks, but only one here (at least during winter season).
Not sure about the gripes below. Our child always brings home crafts made during the day (no sign of supply shortage). There certainly are Christian themes taught and a worship rotation once a week. They aren't catholic, so I didn't expect statues, etc. No signs of racism. Please remember that every culture is different. I have been to asia and found it much different than US.

Oh my goodness. I'm going for an interview there. I sure hope things have gotten better.

I can't believe the comments about racism. My son is half Czech half Azerbaijani and he is not treated any differently than any other children. On the contrary, in his first week, he was having hard time saying bye to me, he was being given extra attention every single day of that week, they really tried to make him feel comfortable. I was always treated kindly as well. The school is clean, bright and spacious. I like their program, it seems very well worked out. Mo son enjoys their toys, they have several ride-on toys and enough room to ride them which is great, he is very energetic and needs a space to run. I do wish they had more time outside though but I am hoping that it was less due to weather and it will become better now. As for religious education, I can't really comment on that yet since my son's class (0-3) doesn't have any yet, it was told to me it is for older classes which makes sense and I am completely fine with.

I am shocked to see the negative comments up above. My kids go there since last 6 months and I have never had a complaint. They address my issues right away if I have any. Otherwise they are very good and cordial. They work on overall development of kids and not just one aspect. I believe the management has gotten better from the time previous reviews were written.

Our three year old has been attending the school and she loves the preschool. She's learned a new grace song for lunch time and enjoys herself with her school mates. The building is very clean and well managed compared to the private preschools. The teachers are all friendly and very active with the children. The director is the nicest person I've met and seems more down to earth than most private schools we've visited. None of that subtle I'm "too good to be here" attitude. I haven't seen any rampant racist attitudes or actions since we've been there. I think some of the "American" moms are used to a more... deferential treatment.

This review sounds like it was written by an angry staff member. We all know that leaving jobs against their will (aka FIRED) makes people angry, but there is no reason an adult should lash out. Life goes on. Don't ruin the reputation of a business just because you weren't a good fit for them.
