Has anyone else realized what a drug dealer she is? I am a recovering addict. I was addicted to Lortabs. I realized I needed help and went to her asking for help. I told her up front that I was taking about 30 pain pills daily. Her answer was to write me a prescription for 180 pain pills. 180!!! That is an addict's dream! She said for me to try to wean myself off. Yeah, right! I just think people need to be aware that she is pushing drugs.

I live in Russellville Ky and have always heard this about her. I have a niece that would drive to Springfield to get Loratab. When is something going to be done with her? Like take away her right to practice.

She has always found ways around it. I know she falsified my records. I know that for a fact. She is contributing to addictions. She is helping people kill themselves.

I just don't understand why she keeps getting away with writing so many pain pills. She is well known for being the "go-to" Dr for narcotics. I have also heard things about her work at a certain nursing home in town. Scary.

I have been a patient of Dr. Carol Cantrells for quite sometime and find her to be a very competent, compassionate and respectable doctor. I have never had her "suggest" drugs for me and the one and only time I had a migraine headache, she gave me enough pain pills to get me through the weekend ONLY, which was all that I needed. NOT over 100! It saddens me to see her being scrutinized the way she is on this forum. I will continue to go to her regardless of what other people say. I know what kind of person and doctor she is and in my opinion, that's what is important.

I also was a patient of hers...did u read my original post? I just know the experience I had with her, and it was not a good one. Surely u don't think everyone who says she is a drug pusher just has a vendetta against her.

She may have some legit patients such as yourself, but that doesn't change the fact that she is the one in Robertson county to go to for narcotics.

I'll cut to the chase...my dad was hooked, and she knew it. Not only would she refer him to a pain clinic, but she would also write scipts for him on top of what they were writing him. He overdosed years back, and we all saw it coming. Use caution with her!

I have been drug free for almost 4 years now. No thanks to her. Please use caution...concerned is right.

She was investigated by the Department of Health. She was found to have falsified/incorrectly documented 5 medical records. She had to sign an agreement to do all sort of stuff. You can go to the Tennessee Department of Health and search for disciplinary actions against providers. I believe it was 2009. Not much has changed ....

I am a patient of Dr. Cantrell's and she has NEVER prescribed me pain medication or even mentioned it, but then again, that is not why I go to the doctor. In my opnion, she is an extremely competent and compassionate person and I plan to continue to go to her when I need to.

She was my mom's Dr for years. My mom was addicted to pain medicine thanks to her. My mother committed suicide January 25th 2012. Her husband committed suicide 9 weeks later. They were both addicted. The police found such a large amount of prescriptions at the scene prescribed by non other than Dr Cantrell!! I have felt she is responsible for both of their deaths. I feel that even more now reading these posts.

I work with patients daily and I can tell you that Dr. Cantrell and her staff are not concerned with the patient's well being. I call and inform the staff of issues, request meds list and I get nothing. They don't care. I also had a family member that died at her hands due to her neglect of managing his symptoms. Wake up people and leave her practice.

I have been seeing Dr. Cantrell for 13 years and I have suffered chronic pain for 30+ years. She has only written one script for a very mild pain med and then it was only a 30-day supply. If you abuse your meds, that is your issue, not your doctors. You need to take responsibility for your actions. When she wrote the script you claim she did, did you give it back or ask for a lower dose? I am sure you were complaining of pain--did you want her to come home with you and make sure you took your meds as prescribed? Drug abusers make it more difficult for the rest of us to get our meds when we actually need them; and we are treated as if we are drug addicts even when we are not. Dr. Cantrell is an excellent doctor and I have never seen any evidence that she writes excessive prescriptions or pushes drugs on anyone!!! Doctors have a lot of responsibilities--being your mom should not be one of them. And for future reference, if you are seeking "help" for a drug addiction, go to a treatment center and not an internal medicine doctor.

I saw Dr. Cantrell for almost two years as my Internal Med doc. I suffer from a chronic pain condition and she never wrote me a single prescription or asked me if I needed a pain prescription. If there is one thing she is not is a pain med pusher! She told me I needed to go to a pain clinic for pain meds. I am getting sick and tired of people who misuse their pain meds blaming everyone else for their problems causing everyone else to suffer because of it, i.e. being labeled a drug user, extreme limits put on prescriptions by both the doctors and pharmacies, and doctors like Dr. Cantrell being afraid to write meds when patients need them.

Um people are addicted for different reasons. From a predisposition for addiction, from irresponsible Dr's like Cantrell, some have had a traumatic event but we trust in our doctors. Our life is in their hands. They take an oath. She has been reprimanded for illegal activity before. Look it up. Yes my mom had a problem with prescription medication but her Dr definitely failed her. I feel she is responsible for my moms suicide. She prescribed her neurontin, stadol nose spray, 3 xanax bars a day, percocet, soma, anti depressants(not sure which one) and some kind of anti psychotic med. My mom was a normal mom for a long time. She.went.through something traumatic. I think she was definitely over medicated. Yes she needed probably a simple antidepressant but come on. All those meds prescribed by a family Dr? Come on. The final medication she gave my mom was lyrica. Within two weeks of taking it she ended her life with a shotgun. Her husband, who was also addicted, Dr Cantrell was his drug dealer also, killed himself 9 weeks later. Yeah what a great doctor.
