Why were the cops assigned to find Ellmers still in the 7-11 10 minutes after the first 911 call? They didn't even exit the 7-11 until they heard the crash. Why too, was the Nile serving him drinks? What proof is there that he was intoxicated before entering that strip club? Since when was a witness proof of evidence, stating Ellmers was going in excess of 70 mph? So much could have been avoided. This was a tragic accident, yet the cops who are to protect us get off scott free?

I know Matt Ellmers, when i heard his name on the news and that he was driving out of control drunk it didn't suprise me. He is an idiot and always will be and i'm glad he will be behind bars before someone else gets hurt :(

I am sorry to hear about your loss of your friend, and the additional stress it has caused you and your loved ones. It is not healthy to hold in grief. Let it out and talk about it, you will feel much better.

I'd put myself in his shoes except I would NEVER drive drunk, therefore it is virtually impossible for me to kill 4 people while doing so. Yes, I have made some mistakes in my life, even legal ones. However, none of them cost four people their lives. Stick to the issue of the innocent people who are now deceased as a result of this young mans horribly fatal decisions...the judge is going to.

In China, this scumbag would receive a well placed bullet in the head, and have his organs harvested. He deserves nothing more here.

Since when was a witness proof of evidence, stating Ellmers was going in excess of 70 mph? So much could have been avoided. This was a tragic accident, yet the cops who are to protect us get off scott free? I work in an ER and I see this sort of thing a lot. When a patient comes in from a fatal car crash, they are automatically tested for an alcohol level by blood and this determines if there will be certain charges brought against him or not. Eye witness accounts for some of the evidence against this young man, but the wreck itself can be evidence enough, afterall 4 people lost their lives in a wrongful death. Emotions run very high for all parties involved. The young man who was drinking and driving has family and no doubt they are devastated by his actions because the damage can not be undone, but the families of these 4 people are equally devastated because they don't ever get to see their loved ones again and they didn't even get to say goodbye, at least Matthew can say goodbye before doing his stint in prison and can see his family members when they come to see him in prison once a week. So the loses are huge and the pain is overwhelming for everyone who knows these people. This is why the laws against driving drunk have gotten harder over the years because people just don't think it will ever happen to them. My brother's best friend was killed by a drunk driver in Springfield in 1987. I miss him. The guy who hit him was well into his 60's and been driving drunk and crashing into other folks and objects for decades, his punishment? A slap on the wrist and fined, he saw no jail time! this is when the laws were much more lienent for old white drunk drivers. I am glad to see things have changed.

Well if you obviously knew the real Matt then you would know that he did not intentially cause that accident that night. Yes he messed up yes he will pay for it for the rest of his life.... like he should. But can you sit there and say that you have never drank and then got behind the wheel of a car.. I doubt it. Most people cant if they have ever drank. he did and killed 4 people and ruined the lives of many.. So next time you drink and drive remember you are no saint either!!!!!!!
