What would make people think the flags position was in mourning for Bin Laden? My first thought would've have been who died or the flag's rope was broken somehow. A jump to the conclusion that the hotel was morning Bid Laden is way out in left field.

My thought would have been that a staff member of the hotel had passed away. I know that my employer pays their respects to an employee that has passed in this manner. I wouldn't have associated this with OBL.

This is a perfect example of what happens when the "shoot first, ask questions later" approach is used. Everyone involved automatically ASSUMED that it was meant to honor OBL.They never stopped to think that maybe there was a problem with the pole OR possibly a death of someone important in that state resulting in a half mast flag.
The problem is,people are too fast to point fingers and pass judgement before getting all the facts, which is a common knee jerk response from humans. Humans like answers to questions, problems and mysteries, and immediately if possible. Therefore many times people simply will take one newsworthy event and tie it in with something or event that they see or hear about that could *possibly* be remotely related.A great many times, the answer that is come to is wrong.
If you would like to see the "shoot first, ask questions later" approach used in everyday happenings, simply monitor the Dispatch comments forum. There, you'll see a great many people thrown under the bus by other people who THINK they have the answers, but in reality, don't have the all the REAL facts that lead to the REAL answer.

Joe, have you ever watched the hate, venom and lying on MSNBC and other networks? Matthews, Schultz, Maddow, Etc. are world class at it. Unfortunately, common sense, fairness and rational thinking must not be your strong points.

Best to have just knocked it down, flag and all. At least give you rubes something of value to complain about.

sorry. i forgot that the internet was invented by darpa, the military industrial complex, strictly for the purposes of surveilance, and promoting pro imperialist propaganda. please do make proper use of the internet by telling us how bad our "enemies have it", and how great america, and its allies are.
