Remember it well. The old Settlement House was on Washington St.beside the Liberty Threater then it moved to Jefferson I think, one block south of Monroe where the overpass is now. It was called Settlement House because it was a Union Hall. They had wrestling matches there and drew some big name. Us street kids learned enough boxing to defend ourselves.

when were u there?

The union settlement house in the 50's to 60's
was located on Monroe where the by pass is now.
It was a united way funded project in those days.
There was a basketball court and baseball field
a play ground and activities inside the building.
I learned to play chess there by a program directer name was bob thompson.

I started pre school at USH in 1958 and my teachers name was Ms.marjorie.From 1958 to 1965 I practically lived there. The playground was where I learned to play chess and a variety of other games. What a great place to grow up!

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Sagittarius

Don't be surprised if a member of the family is unpredictable or does things on the spur of the moment today. There's nothing to worry about because they won't do anything too alarming or disruptive. In fact, their actions will be like a breath of fresh air and they may even help you to escape from a current rut. So don't hesitate to be that little bit different yourself, either.
