I was visiting my brother who lives in ys right by Toms Market and noticed all the city yuppies and foreigners just walking around taking pictures of the trees (like they have never seen a tree) and exploring the local shops. I go to Antioch and major in art. I'm a very artsy person and have always enjoyed ys because it's so laid back and all of the original hipsters (not any of these fake wanna be hippis) today I was just blown away by all the people I saw who you can tell don't belong. People driving around town playing loud rap music instead of walking. Everyone knows if you live in ys you walk or ride a bike! People trying to be cool wearing somewhat vintage clothing with their expensive city handbags or what not. Yuppies thinking they blend but don't truly know the meaning of the 60s and 70s, Woodstock, great music, a true flower child/hipsters lifestyle. I just feel like all the suburban areas are invading and especially these people who are hardcore rap fans with there big ass Jewlry "bling" I guess they call it sitting at a local ice cream place. It's so out of place I just want to look at them and say don't you know this is a hipsters cove/nook, it's an artsy town for the laid back. Uh how can you make all those ppl go back to where they came from and keep the town just true original hipsters?

the reason may be nearby town springfield is a run down boring place and decent people want a getaway that's safe, clean to visit. there's nothing to do in Springfield that's why yellow springs is a favorite. why complain its 2013 and a free country;you should be glad those "yuppies" are bringing revenue and that money goes to yellow springs businesses and community.

To Flowerchild Grace:
I live in Yellow Springs and I don't fit the stereotype of who you think should be there. If you were truly into the 60's lifestyle you would know you should live and let live. What an elitest view you have. Anyone should be able to go anywhere and not worry about being looked at like "why are you here?"

Flowerchild: Now you know how real Americans feel about illegal aliens roaming the streets of our country......they "don't belong" here nor are they wanted or invited. In fact, Yellow Springs is the PERFECT place for them......liberals LOVE illegal aliens.

I hope that when me and my boyfriend visit and drive (because he has a heart disability that prevents him from walking around a lot and over exerting himself) that we won't be judged as yuppy trash ....

its a free country I hate when people are judgemental and act like they own a public place. if you don't like people visiting yellow springs then go live in a tent by the river. stop acting like you own the place and that your a free spirit you probably wasn't even born during the sixties! everyone has a right to be there so shut up.
