Wow, there are a few memories here. I only knew the bar across from Big Bear as "Bob City". I also remember the Ringside (Ring-slime, Ringworm, etc) of which, my old pal Brian Perkins once said "You meet the nicest people there .... they'll do anything for you ... or TO you!" RIP Brian and Bernie.

Used to get served at the Regency room when I was in high school - the military recruiters would try to get us drunk and signed up - we worked this for almost a year, until one night this Marine recruiter started getting really physical - had the papers on the table and trying to shove the pen in my hand ... I finally had to say "doesn't matter if I did sign, I'm only 16, so it wouldn't be legal!" That ruined the Regency for us.

The department store on Sunset was called Kings when they opened, then became Wells.

I had a fling with a barmaid at the 7 Seas in the early '90's when I briefly llived in S-field again. Much older than me, but sexy as h3ll.

Downstairs at Ruby Tuesdays in the early-mid 80's had some crazy stuff going on. And I don't have to remind anyone about Saturdays... remember the funeral they had for that place? I still have the 9 ball from the pool table. What a shame to tear it (and ringside) down for a lousy hotel.

Did anyone ever drink beer with the old guys at Purtiy Confection?

Wonder if any of you ole' bar hoppers knew my daddy? He passed when i was really young but from the wild stories iv heard he was a hell of a partier...Manuel (jeff) Frantz!!! Sure wud b nice to hear any stories you might have!
I knew Manual well. We all lived on the west end and went to clark together. His mom Maudie was some relation to my step mom. he ran with danny deal later on. That was bad news. That friendship is what got him sent off. Someone pointed you out to me in the union club a while back. Manual and Arlie Ray both had Jeff tattooed on there arm. Don't know what that was all about. Maudie was the only one who ever called him Jeff.

I used to get served (under age) at Groebers. As long as you stayed in the back room (and fed that sweet ancient pinball machine quarters) they didn't care. And I got one of the best BJs of my life in the lot beside the Press Box on Plum Street

Harleyman......Monte.... Chuck's son and owner of the Lantern Bar would like you to introduce yourself before making accusations.....Jackass.
QUOTE who harleyman Chuck Henderson did the shooting. That was the old Night Owl in the Hausk Bldg. formerly the Atlas. J&R was on the corner of Pleasant and East. Lantern is still there and open. Chuck is dead, his son runs it now. It's a gay bar or very close. Rabbits was formerly the Cat& Fiddle, it's torn down now. Dan & Dees is an old folks home. Same old drunk in the same old seat day after day. Anchor Inn has been gone for years. They had a few killings also. If you go to the Stein don't hold the door open, they get pissed if you let all the flys out. Blue Monday , originally Arnolds is also torn down.

I stopped by the Lantern and it sucked. They acted if they could care less if they had a customer. I tried to order the second but the bartender was to buisy shooting the breeze with someone about golf to wait on me so I took my business elsewhere. I think Harleyman was dead on.

Anyone remember a barmaid named Sue at the Harvest Inn? She also worked at the Southern Village bar at the Southern Village shopping center.

How about Kenton Night Club? I sit still around?

Thanks for bringing back good memories.

I can't remember the name of the bar but it was owned by Joe Mader. It didn't last long. He had some good ideas but his money was short and the rent was high.
