Does anyone remember a general store on Maiden Lane near Snyder Park School. My Brother was asking me and I remember the store but not the name. IN the 1950's.

I grew up in that neighborhood and went to Snyder Park School in the 50's. I remember the store well. It was a small neighborhood market on the north east corner of Zischler and Maiden La. and I think the sign just said Market. Everyone was allowed to leave school at lunch, some of us went home and some went to the market for pop and candy. My sister will know the name if it had one and who owned and ran it. Stay tuned.

Remember some things about Springfield back then. I was born there in 1939 ans left after enlisting in the USAF in 1956. Attended the following schools during that time. Main ST. Elementary, Emerson, Snyder Park Jr. High and Springfield High for one year. Went off to Augusta Military School in Virgina. Some of the friends I had back then were Larry Ware,Gary Barr and Bill Paxon. My cousin David Williams just passed away this week. He was 74. Live out on Old Coach Rd. with His wife Judy. They were married for 45 yrs. I live in Utah for the last 19yrs. Any of you out there want to communicate you can e-mail me at [email protected]
Have a GREAT day.

So much to remember. Graduated from CCHS in 1964. Riding the Ridgewood bus home after stopping and eating a grilled, chopped olive sandwich from Jim's. Of course the tea room at Wren's, Hoenig's, and the Harvard for men's clothes. I also remember Slough's florist and the dances at Benevolent Hall across from St. Bernards. For ladies clothes it was Hoenig's first, Wren's, Katherine Hines, William Greens, the Vogue shop, Carmens, the Boston store. Downtown every Sat. to hang out with friends and buy stuff at Wren's.There was some lingerie shop on E. High almost downtown that I can't remember the name of.
Do you remember VAN THE HATTER on Worthington St? Near the cinema. My grandfather and Great Grandfather ran that till hats went out of style.

Does anyone remember a picture and framing store called Pierce & Company? I have a picture with their label on it. I just wondered when their store existed. I hope someone remembers. Thanks!
