Umpire Allegedly Attacked; Father Cited for Assault

A 39-year-old Gretna man is in trouble for attacking an umpire at a Little League baseball game Saturday.

Disappointment is the name of the game. You may never agree with the call on the field, but the game is played by the little leaguers, not their parents. I myself just recently witness a grown man get in an umpire's face and poking the umpire's chest repeatly in a threatning matter at a legion tournment, after a questionable call. It was witnessed by several other teams and their parents. After this incident, let me tell you, it is the son who bares the shame of their father. That child is never looked at the same again, and mostly it is pity, because of the pressure that they must live with at home. No matter if the call was wrong, instead of everyone talking about the bad call, they are now talking about the idiot dad. The dad at the legion game was ejected from the park. He has only been back to one game, has not been to any district games. His son, one of the top pitchers on his legion team, choked last night and the team lost. The team won today, with the son on the bench, and this team's season continues, but the dad is still an idiot.

well said. what I don't understand is why the coaches are suspended for a year. exactly what part did they play in this father's foolishness?
