Who is the best disability lawyer in the Springfield area? I hired Parmele Law Firm and never met the lawyer til 15 minutes before the hearing. During the hearing she just sat there, didn't bring anything to the judges attention, just set there scribbling on a piece of paper. Before the hearing she told me it would be only me, the judge, and the vocational expert, and that she couldn't talk. I was thinking then what good is having an attorney.during the year and a half wait to get a hearing, the only contact I had with this firm was when I called them to check on the progress, and the answer was always, "we're working on it" . I was not told how to prepare,NOTHING! I'M in desperate need of advice on a GREAT disability lawyer

I can try. It can be confusing. I got mine mostly on my own, knowing that I'd lose my initial claim. 65% of cases do. You have to appeal. That's when I got a Lawyer to make sure @ my Appeal Hearing all the "i's" were dotted & "t's" crossed.

1st off you have to have a documented diagnosis from a Dr stating what your disability is. This does NOT mean a Dr has to recommended you for Disability.

Sounds like you've lost your original claim and appealed it to the ALJ, right? Did you get your Decision back yet? You do get to Appeal that one too.

When did your Attorney get involved? What are they saying?

After the initial application was denied,I then contacted this law firm. They always have commercials on tv, so I assumed it was safe to trust they were good. Then a long ways down the road a hearing was finally set. The lawyer brought NOTHING about my medical conditions to the judges attention,,exactly everything That's wrong, how badly it affects me, how i will have it all the rest of my life etc. THEN 2 weeks later i get another denial, with the judge stating thing, that isn't true, and things that could have been told to me to cover, but wasn't.... I'm very hurt, and devastated at how I was represented by this law firm. Now I can't even get a lawyer there to talk to me.

Ok. Sounds somewhat like you went the same route I started. Man, what a piss-poor Law Firm. I met w/my guy twice before my Appeal Hearing. Everything he told me came true & w/in the time frame he stated. He even spoke w/the ALJ & Vocational Expert w/out me after my hearing.

He's not a Lawyer, but an Advocate. Your example is one of why I don't use Lawyers. Check him out. He is in Lebanon, tho'.

If you've got another ???, maybe I could answer it. Good luck!!!

Thank you so much! How long did the whole process take you? I have had to deal with lawyers twice in my life, and each time I got screwed over. I told this lawyer in the 15 min I actually talked to this person how my life was/future was in this lawyers hands,,, and yet they Just sat there,, now this "decision letter" is full of non - truths and blaming me for not showing this and that, which if I had been told by this firm to do so,I would have no problem. I'm pissed,I'm hurt,,,, devastated!

You're welcome& I am sorry for you. Maybe Ron can straighten it out now.

I had to file 5 years ago. It took 30 days to be denied then 18 months for my hearing. Immediately on my 1st denial I contacted Ron. It was about 30 days after my Hearing he called w/what the Judge offered.

My case was different in the way that the ALJ ruled that he would grant me Disability when I turned 50 not 48 when I filed, so I lost most of my back settlement. Reason being @ 50 there are different qualifications then being younger. Then I could have Appealed that to try & reinstate my original date claim, but Ron convinced me I'd have about a 2 year wait & wouldn't win.

Ron's a good man. His pay,(can't remember) was small % of a few months settlement I was awarded, automatically deducted.

FYI - EVERYTHING is a wait period from now on if you're granted SSD/I. 90 days is a normal time & there's a lot of crossover w/Medicaid, which you get for 2 years until you transfer into Medicare. Which ties into Medicaid too. It's frustrating.

Do you have a caseworker for Family Services or Medicaid? They can help explain somewhat.

Thank you. There's still things that have to be worked out with the other firm before he can even speak to me about what will be done, but his secretary told me what I needed to do now,and that there has been many besides me that has been treated this way,, that makes me feel a little better in a way, knowing I'm not the only one, but at the same time ticks me off even more. If they are not going to do what they advertise, and tell you in the very beginning, then they shouldn't be allowed to do this type of law. And as for the judge,,I'm extremely hurt over his not even close to true comments, and accusations that wasn't even brought up to me in the hearing. I just continue to pray, that the Lord will help me with this, and through this.

Oh, I hear ya. They just wanted to make a quick $$$ & not put any effort into it. It's a shame really. They had your future in their hands & did NOTHING nor care that they didn't. Ought to be illegal.

Unfortunately, you can't do anything about it. Not right at all.

Keep me updated. Try to stay healthy.:)

I need help finding an attorney for disability. Can someone help me? Can I file for disability while on unemployment? I've been told by some attorney offices yes and others no. I'm confused and have no other income or help with money. I need one in Springfield Mo.
Thank you!
