The fact you'd even use the term "crap" ...(hmmm ... tap, tap)
Would lead me to suggest Springfields Old School :
Crosstown
or
Pappy's Place

If you can watch your mouth (but still knowing you have one)-
I'd suggest :
Springfield Brewing Co.
Ebbets Field

If you can watch your mouth, act, and dress accordingly :
Nonna's or Nakato

The Standard :
Lonestar
McAlisters
Panera
Ruby Tues.
Applebees
Cheddars
Chilis
Schultz + Dooley
Red Lobster

Next one I'll probably try -
Nicolas Ristorante

I can not believe this place is even trying to make it. There is no way that the owner had any kind of success in California if this restaurant is any kind of indicator. When I asked a cook what something on the buffet was, he didn't even know!! The food was cold, except for my pudding, which was warm. The food was horrible, service was horrible, and the trip to the restroom an hour and a half later was horrible. If that "new" equipment has been installed, they have been ripped off! The place looked like a prison cafeteria. The best thing I ate there was the gummy bears, which were only out for consumption because they were out of ice cream. I am willing to bet $100 they are out by New Years. I gotta go now, the bathroom is calling my name again after the USA Buffet damaged me internally!!
U are right he didn't pay my boyfriend his work check. He never needs to be open ever again.

Noo, those places are all national chain restaurants. You want one locally owned. Small diners are good but the USA Buffet has so much variety that cant be a bad thing. No matter what you are looking for they have it. I go there when in town.

Also the chain places use pre prepared foods loaded with preservatives and toxic oils (transfats). You want fresh home cooking for best quality & good health.

Anyway I hope USA does well and grows tho they are already in a large building w/good location. The alternative is the constant fly-by-night here today gone tomorrow Asian places that will mean lower quality.

Now im hungry

You sound like one angry so blown away by the competition.

I dont know how they manage to do it, just motivated for success. If you want to succeed in the business you will need to go the extra step. Even in China the restaurants are big and go all out to get all the business.

Drove by USA Buffet January 24, 2013 around 3 PM and it was closed with no cars in the parking lot.

Is the place cursed?

The last firm there, before USA Buffet, was the Foo Kee Chinese buffet.

I liked both places.

Maybe I am not a picky eater but I really liked the large variety of edibles and the taste was fine and I did not receive any gastrointestinal distress from any of the many meals I shoveled in.

Maybe USA Buffet is permanently closed... maybe not.

I wonder if the rest for the LARGE place is too high?

Springfield, MO is a low-income area on the whole.

Yes, folks, exceptions always exist but this area IS an impoverished place.

Toss in the unemployment rate that is always higher than the HUGE lie that is the official unemployment rate and this is not a good time to open a new restaurant and can be tough for an existing firm.

There's internal conflict there. Supposedly one of the owners was embezzling.
