Has anyone tried the new buffet on Battlefield, USA Buffet? What did you think. We may be going for dinner and I want to get some reviews before trying it out! Thanks!

We are very anxious to try this restaurant next Sunday - got a sneak preview of the restaurant before opening. Know that the staff worked really hard to bring in new equipment to bring the restaurant up to their high standards. They had everyone get certified for food handling even if they will just be a cashier. The owner ran highly successful restaurants in California. The food choices sound exciting with all American food down one line and another for international dishes. Should be a huge selection with well made and tasty dishes.

For the love of god do not eat there! The food was cold and dried out at the same time. The cheese on the salad bar was melted into one big lump, the ribs were so overcooked the bones, not the meat were falling apart. The fruit on the bar was half rotten, the service was terrible and I saw at least 3 people complain during the 30 minutes or so I was there. Quite possibly the worst in Springfield.

you were asked to leave nicely after you had been at the buffet for four hours. You made repeated trips up to get more ribs. We gave you your money back and escorted you out...please do not return

HORRIBLE!!!! Save your money! The worst buffet ever! Very odd choices of food. Things were over cooked and burnt. The pasta dishes were waaaay over cooked, very mushy! Honest to God they had 11 different salads... all the same.... bagged lettuce the only different, shredded cheese, cubbed cheese and my favorite cheese slices that were broke up and layed on the lettuce, they were just trying to fill the empty spaces. The cobblers were a JOKE! There was just raw batter on top of fruit filling. My whole family was joking around saying it reminded us of the buffet Randy Quad took Chevy Chase to in Vegas Vacation. Worst buffet EVER!

I can not believe this place is even trying to make it. There is no way that the owner had any kind of success in California if this restaurant is any kind of indicator. When I asked a cook what something on the buffet was, he didn't even know!! The food was cold, except for my pudding, which was warm. The food was horrible, service was horrible, and the trip to the restroom an hour and a half later was horrible. If that "new" equipment has been installed, they have been ripped off! The place looked like a prison cafeteria. The best thing I ate there was the gummy bears, which were only out for consumption because they were out of ice cream. I am willing to bet $100 they are out by New Years. I gotta go now, the bathroom is calling my name again after the USA Buffet damaged me internally!!

Honestly the worst food I have ever had in my life. Tried everything on the buffet & didn't find one thing edible. Ordered steak hoping would be able to have that & it tasted like the cleaner that's used to clean the grill. Even the dessert was awful including packaged ice cream since it was freezer burned. Sorry these people spent so much to open this restaurant but they need to go back to drawing board.

Do not eat there! The food is horrible. I thought it would be the same quality as the food had been at their original location, but it is far from it. As soon as we left my little girl started to feel sick. She ended up throwing up over and over. After she got everything out she began to feel better. This place is not worth the time or money.

Yup they are one of the worst places to eat at and it cost about the same as ryan's or the other big places. Everyone is saying the same thing that I'd would of said. I'd don't think the owner's have any restaurant exp. or customer service. I'd don't think they should have never open until they learn that field.

I am surprised at the negative comments about USA Buffet.

A couple months after they opened I went in for lunch and had a wondrous meal.

Several food-types; "American", Mexican and Chinese-type foods and every item I tried tasted good to me.

I did not come across a single bit of gristle in the chicken-containing offerings when trying the several Chinese items that use cut-up chicken.

I ate 2 of the Salisbury steaks and nary a small bit of bone fund, indicative of using good quality meat.

Of course, tastes vary and folks have different expectation levels.

I was sated with my meal and eagerly anticipate returning in the future.

Have a wonderful week!!!

I enjoy a good meal as much as anyone else. Where I draw the line is when the employee hand wash sinks are essentially nonexistent. How does management expect cooks, salad bar staff and servers keep from cross contaminating food with dirty hands. If a meat slicer isnít clean, it makes me wonder how long it has been since it was last cleaned. Food not held at the proper temp for hours on end doesnít necessarily smell or taste bad but can be loaded with bacteria which can make you horribly ill. I canít think of any meal that is worth food poisoning or even death.

After getting everything corrected from the 11/15/12 and the 11/20/12 inspections seems as the management is letting things slide again...

USA RESTAURANT & BUFFET - City
300 E BATTLEFIELD RD SPRINGFIELD
12/05/2012 - Inspection

Critical Violations Found: 3
1.Uncooked salmon at sushi bar is at 60 degrees- discarded.
2.Various RTE PHF are at 80 degrees on the counter in the kitchen- discarded.
3.No log sheet is being maintained for multiple RTE PHF out on the buffet line that is out of temperature (less than 135 degrees, which is the minimum hot holding temperature required).
Noncritical Violations Found: 1
1.Storing food in #10 cans. Repeat.

No way I will take my family, friends or even my worst enemies to this place. Not without them getting 4 or 5 perfect inspections.

For other stomach turning inspection results you can go to http://health.springfieldmo.gov/index.aspx... and see for yourself how filty your favorite munchies spot is. Your best bet, by the stuff and make it at home lol

Granted it has many selections, it doesn't taste good. I moved here from Boston and have yet found decent food, any suggestions?
