There is a section of ebay devoted to the listing and selling of adult sexually-oriented material (pornography) supposedly accessible only to those over 18. But we all know how tech savvy kids are these days. A number of churches of various denominations have raised concerns over this issue. Isn't it time that churches unite in a campaign to protect their families from this filth being offered at the click of a button by an online corporate giant?

I think it's a serious issue for anyone with a family and a computer who uses ebay.

You people really need to pick your battles more wisely. Kids aren't flooding ebay to buy porn, I can assure you. There are multiple instances of government entities, non-profit groups and other foundations running child-sex trafficking rings. Maybe you should fight against that and raise awareness for it. Being from Texas you should know first hand what I'm talking about. Get rid of the Southern Baptist Convention publications and get a dose of reality.

Parents can protect their kids by limiting and monitoring their online activities.

Pornography exists almost everywhere. It's necessary to take steps to keep it out of your own home. The responsibility is that of the parents, not anyone else.

Why would they risk buying porno when they can get it for free all over the web?

You have no idea how small that e-bay amount is compared to how much is out there.

I don't want to know what's out there and I don't want my kids to know what's out there either.

Too bad. Seriously. I'm tired of people like you who feel that others rights shouldn't exist because of your ignorance.

What I can't understand is why a supposedly "family friendly" site like ebay allows degrading pornographic materials to be sold on its site.

If enough churches will join together and boycott ebay maybe something will be done about this. It can't be good business for ebay to offend thousands of people who find the presence of such material highly offensive.

Ebay is boycotting itself with all of their new policies. No worries, find a cause that's more worhy of your time. I assure you, this is a lost cause.

The problem is nationwide, on cable TV, everywhere. America's morals have gone down the drain.

Oh come on. You know as well as everybody else that ebay's always promoted their site as having something for everyone in the family. They don't advertise themselves as a source for smut, but it's there.

This reminds me of the story about the old woman who called the police because her neighbors were sunbathing in the nude. When the officers arrived she took them into her back yard, but they saw nothing. The old woman pointed to a small step ladder next to the privacy fence. Just climb up that ladder and look over the fence, she told them, and you'll see plenty.

If you don't want to see pornography on ebay, don't climb up the ladder and look.

If the fact that ebay sells porn on its website bothers you, don't go to their website.

Problem solved.

Looks like the FTC may be investigating ebay soon after the "purge" the other day suddenly and abruptly of some 15,000 sellers off ebay. Google it.

Why has ebay become one of the world's largest purveyors of smut?
Never hear the execs talk about their share of that market during conference calls and analyst days. Ebay used to be a family friendly place where everyone of all ages could shop safely. How and why was this proliferation of smut for sale allowed to happen?
