I seen on the news the other day that they are talking about giving her the death penalty! I know that she committed a terrible crime...but knowing the old Nessa made this a difficult thing to hear.

It may seem difficult to hear, but that couple went through HELL.. Are they considering the death penalty for all that were involved, or just her?

I'm not sure...it just said "washington county native vanessa coleman could face the death penalty". It was supposed to tell more later but I didnt get to watch it. Really all of them need the death penalty...but like I said its still hard to hear. The nessa I knew wasnt that kind of person (or so I thouht). Does anyone actually know what her involvement was? I am assuming she was in on all of it since they want to give death...but they havent talked about her much.

I looked the story up on wikipedia (read the full story http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murders_of_Chann... ) though I warn you its pretty gruesome.
Here is what they were sentenced to:

--On April 16, 2008, Eric Boyd was found guilty in Federal court of being an accessory to a fatal carjacking and for failing to report the location of a known fugitive.[26] Boyd's was the first case to go to trial, and he was the only suspect not charged with murder.[27] He was sentenced to the maximum of 18 years in Federal prison.[28] He is currently incarcerated at Beckley FCI.

On August 25, 2009, Letalvis D. Cobbins was found guilty of the murders of Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom. Cobbins faced the possibility of the death penalty because he was convicted of first degree felony murder in the murder of Christian. He was found guilty of facilitation of murder for Newsom but he was acquitted of Newsom's rape. The jurors worked about 10 hours Monday and on Tuesday morning before reaching a verdict. They never asked Judge Richard Baumgartner any questions during their deliberations.[29] On August 26, Cobbins was sentenced to life without parole.[30]

On October 28, 2009, Lemaricus Devall Davidson was found guilty on all counts. He was found not guilty on three counts of the aggravated rape of Christopher Newsom but was found guilty of the lesser included charges of facilitation of rape. The sentencing hearing began on October 29, 2009 at 9am EST. The sentence hearing ended the next day October 30, 2009 at approx 3pm EST when a jury, after deliberating approx 3 hours, sentenced Lemaricus Davidson to death on 4 of the conviction counts.[31]

On December 8, 2009, George Thomas was found guilty on all counts, including the ones the other defendants were acquitted of despite his case being based solely on circumstantial evidence and testimony.[32] The sentencing hearing began December 8th, 2009 and ended on December 10th, 2009 at approx 10:45 am EST when the jury, after approx 3 hours of deliberation, returned a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole on each of the 4 capital convictions.[33]

The convictions of Boyd, Cobbins, Davidson and Thomas left Vanessa Coleman as the last defendant to face trial.[34] Coleman's case is complicated by the fact that, while she was granted immunity by federal authorities for testimony in the federal case on the car-jacking, the state courts have ruled that the federal grant of immunity does not extend to the state charges on murder and rape.[35]

Her crime is that she did absolutely nothing to try to save that girl. I really liked Vanessa, but I am not going to sit here and say she did nothing wrong. She knew that girl was stuffed in a trash bag, slowly sufficating, inside their house and she left the house w/ the rest of them. She was just as guilty if you ask me. Did you know that for a long time she was still trying to cover for her boyfriend? Hell she may still be. The more I read about that story the more I think she should get the death penalty. You know that Channon screamed for help, 2 days of torture isnt a quiet thing I wouldnt imagine, and she says that she didnt hear anything and didnt know anything was going on....thats bullshit and you know it!

I have spoken to her she seemed nice.I could not sit and watch a person be beat, tortured, and raped and later slowly murdered. I dont care how much I love my man. She deserves to die the same way channon &chris did and so do the guys involved.I don't care how much I hate a person I dont think I could stand by and see that happen to any humanbeing

Common sense! We live in a day and age where it's common place for an eight year old to have a cell phone. Fear being a factor or not; I guarantee you she had at least one chance, be it a bathroom break or maybe step'n outside to get some air to send a text or call someone. It is not like this happened in a farmhouse on some rural road. She simply could of screamed and someone would have heard her. Lives were taken and changed forever that night and for you to belittle that says volumes about your character. Fear does bring out mankind's worst but also it's best! I'm a Marine and I know fear but it does not rule me. I master and conquer it!

I would rather be dead than have to live w/ the fact that I stood by and watched two innocent people lose their lives....especially since she is liable to spend the rest of her life on death row. You cant tell me that in 2 or 3 days she didnt have the chance to run away or call someone. Do you not have a conscience?

Was she harmed? Any physical evidence to back you claim beside her word? Apparently the authority did not believe her claims that is why she is facing the charges that are against her. Don't compare her situation to a wartime environment. It only highlights your ignorance. If those men that were involved were not totally sure that Vanessa was "down" with them she would have been found in a garbage can as well. Again, common sense!
