What is so hard about "if you want our $$$ you play by our rules"? Doesn't every corporation run that way?? Why would the government be any different??

It's simple, include everyone. Homosexuals were children at one time. However, just like most theocracies, they ignore the truth and proliferate the lies.

2 Peter 2:21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

'2 Peter' doesn't sign the taxpayer's 2.9 billion dollar yearly check to support homeless children in Illinois

It's time to get the Catholics out of the business of accepting any public funding. They are leaders in discrimination! It would be really a good outcome if the whole Catholic religion would just dry-up and blow away, return to the dark ages from which you origionated, and quit trying to take the rest of us down with you!

What would really be good would be for them to hark unto Jesus and take care of the poor themselves. But even in those old dark ages, they squeezed money out of the peasants to "intervene" with God on their behalf. Common folk were told they wouldn't be heard otherwise. Crafty folk, those Catholics.

Why is this on the Human Sexuality forum? Why are people here so obsessed with Christianity?

I never realized that the church subsidized Catholic Charities only to the tune of 3%. The get an awful lot of good press for a small investment. They are foolish to turn that into a negative.

Sorry, but one can't take State and Federal Money and then discriminate against the very taxpayers who provide that funding just because the Catholic Church doesn't want to follow the law and want to continue to discriminate based on one's sexual orientation.

If they don't want State or Federal money, then they are free to discriminate all they want to.....just like the Boy Scouts do!!!

No one is obsessed with Christianity. Especially Christians.

The far more interesting question is why are the "christians" so obsessed with GLBT folks?? Why can't they simply do what Jesus commanded and shake the dust of their feet and move on?

Look at this:
Catholic Charities affiliates received a total of nearly $2.9 billion a year from the government in 2010, about 62 percent of its annual revenue of $4.67 billion. Only 3 percent came from diocesan churches (the rest came from in-kind contributions, investments, program fees and community donations).

In Illinois, Catholic Charities in five of the six state dioceses had grown dependent on foster care contracts, receiving 60 percent to 92 percent of their revenues from the state, according to affidavits by the charities' directors.

This from the taxpayers of the State.....straights, as well as from GAYS AND LESBIANS, yet the Church wants to discriminate against just those who happen to be Gay or Lesbian.......wrong!!!

This IS interesting stuff. You'd think with the way they so easily moved pedophile priests around to protect their cash-flow, they wouldn't have any trouble changing their stances on adoption services for the same reason.

But then, the priest thing was kept quiet. It's far more difficult to keep this type of thing quiet, isn't it?

Welcome to Topix. This particular thread was started automagically by Roboblogger (listed in the byline near the title for the story) which tries to put the story in appropriate categories based on keywords it spots in the news item. Since it's do. By a computer it sometimes makes odd choices.

I see this same thread classified under the LGBT news section. It probably shows up in the Religion and Catholic and Pittsburgh categories too.

Yea, it probably is......but I always contented that if the Catholic Church had actually investigated all of the supposed sexual allegations instead of just paying settlements......then they would have more money to branch off on their own and no be depended on the State and Federal Government for handouts.....somehow they believe that having a tax-exempt status entitles them to special privileges.....and it doesn't!!!

I've always found verse 22 to be very ignorant.

We now know that a female dog vomits for her weaning pups to make babyfood for them, and to inocculate their digestive systems with the digestive microbes and enzymes that they weren't born with.

Pigs in the wild are quite clean. They "wallow" only because they are essentially imprisoned in pens that aren't cleaned by theit captors.

btw: How would "Peter" be familiar with pigs in Judea?

"The Second Epistle of Peter, often referred to as Second Peter and written 2 Peter or in Roman numerals II Peter (especially in older references), is a book of the New Testament of the Bible, traditionally ascribed to Saint Peter, but in modern times NT scholars regard it as pseudepigraphical."
